This experience of a high speed boat to Boston is worth every penny. Food and drink available at fair prices. 1 hr trip. Salem pier has a Tiki Bar to eat and drink a full bar menu while waiting for ride. Takes you to Fanual Hall.

Really beautiful, scenic ride from Boston to Salem and back. Comfortable ride. Plenty of space. Loved seeing the islands with homes on them and the homes nestled on the coastline rocks. Salem is also a beautiful town to pull into.

This was a great ferry to Boston. It was very relaxing and comfortable. The views were nice from the boat. I especially loved when Boston came into view. What a beautiful city from the water.

We had such a great ride into Boston. There were 2 couples, "retired" and it couldn't have been easier to relax and not stress out going into B town. We had a great lunch and walked around enjoyed all the sights (again, we grew up 10 miles north of Boston) and knowing that the "drive" home would be via the ferry was nice knowing....a bit more than we wanted to spend, but then again we don't do it every day....fun thing to do.

The ferry leaves from long wharf and is a good way to travel to Salem. There is food, drink and conveniences on the ferry and we felt really safe. I'd do this again.

Day trip to salem. It takes about 45 minutes to get there. Very walkable and lots of shops and restaurants. We stopped in at the beer works brewery for a pint of beer, which was really good. The ride to salem there was a guy who pointed out things of interest along the way. We were not disappointed.

I'd definitely recommend this as the best way to get from Boston to Salem. There was an informative running commentary in both directions until the ferry picked up speed, then we were left to enjoy the journey in peace.Great views of Boston harbour. We returned at sunset and caught the views in a different light.Only problem is I think you have to book your return ferry when you buy the tickets and we just didn't leave ourselves long enough in Salem, but the ferry ride was worth it. The catamaran was the most stable boat I've ever been on. If I'm ever in Boston again, i don't think I'd return to Salem, but I'd definitely take in a harbour tour or whale watching ferry if they use the same kind of boat.

This was so easy and quick to use. We went during Halloween so was perfect. They are really helpful on the trip so you know where to go when you get there and give you a map. They tell you some fact about things you see on the way. There were also some choices of times to come back. We went at 11 and came back at 7. Best way to get there I think !

We got our tickets on the day - care there are two tickets kiosks at Boston waterfront and we were directed from one, through the Marriott hotel to the Salem ferry ticket kiosk. $29 return, going out on the 9.30am and selecting to come back on the 4pm.There are seats on the top (open deck) and more below - you do get nice views looking back to Boston as you leave. The journey on the Nathaniel Bowditch took just under an hour and i have to admit to feeling a bit queasy when it went into more open water for a short spell but in the main it was quite close to the coast. Nice views of Salem coming in to the jettyThere was commentary from Jim during the journey on what to see in Salem etc - also free WiFi on the boat. Personally I was disappointed with Salem but pleased I came - a morning or afternoon would have been enough for us rather than over 6 hours. There is a small but modern waiting room at Salem and a pleasant canopy type bar on the jetty. Jim sees passengers off at both ends with his cup so passengers can if they wish express their (monetary) appreciation of his assistance and help on the trip.

So glad we went to Boston via the ferry .... It was only $29 per person for the entire trip and was a lovely and relaxing way to get there. We went in September and there was hardly anyone on the ferry going to Boston. Coming back to Salem there were a few more people but it was not crowded at all. It was lovely approaching Boston from the water side. I would recommend this mode of travel. I booked the tickets before we left Australia and took a printed copy with me.

Taking the ferry to Salem from Boston was a great decision. It was easy to get to, had an interesting commentary about Boston Harbour and features on the way to Salem (thanks Jim) and berths within easy walking distance from Salem. We had good weather so calm seas. It was a very relaxing trip.

Not only was the travel quick but also informative. I felt like I learned more from the ferry ride than when I actually arrived in Salem. The view of Boston from the ferry is something you don't want to miss.

We enjoyed this ferry ride along the north shore to Salem. Water was a little rough with the Fall weather coming in. Ferry staff was cordial and helpful.

Easy to book tickets. We bought combined ticket for ferry and trolley to save a little. Lovely boat ride that lasted about an hour. Snack bar on board. Nothing fancy but coffee good.

Took the ride to Boston while visiting Salem. Had a really rough ride there, but the crew were excellent at keeping our prone-to-be-seasick rider at ease with ginger candy and conversation.
