This place always impresses me with the entertainment that it provides. Its a great place to pop your head in and at least check out midweek. the music is free, and the drinks are cheap. No one ever takes themselves too quickly, so its easy to have a good time.

I don't know if I've ever walked through Central Square on a Friday or Saturday night and not been draw in here. And once drawn in, I don't think I've ever been disappointed. It's nothing to look at on the outside, just a big cinderblock lump with an ancient, 70's-era cheap-stripclub-stype awning. Small cover to get in after 8pm on weekends, and once inside it's all cheese as well, in a homey, amusing way. But the ambience gets under your skin, and once the music starts it's on -- always the most amazing jazz / blues / rock bands there, the bartenders are fast and friendly, and the crowd is always alive and having a blast. Not where you'll want to take a first date... first... but if you take her here after a good dinner you're bound to get style points. And if she doesn't like it, well, she's not the one. ;)

We saw 3 local bands in the Club Bohemia, which is located in the Basement of the Cantab Lounge in Central Square. Each band played for about an hour and it was a good variety. There are a few tables so we were comfortable and had a good view of the bands. The place is pretty small and the acoustics are so-so, can be very loud at times. People seem friendly and laid back. On Saturday night there was an 8 dollar cover, which I don't mind paying to support local talent. Only one bar tender so it takes awhile to get a drink. Parking is difficult to find, but available in some city lots a few blocks down.

Since this place was easily accessible via the T, we ventured out on a Tuesday night while visiting Boston to hear the bluegrass band. No atmosphere here (well, if you don't count the terrible smell that escapes the restroom every time someone goes in or out). But the service was good, we liked the band, and everyone in the joint seemed to be enjoying themselves. They have live music every night. A fun thing to do while visiting Boston.

Cozy music bar in Cambridge. I visited on a Tuesday night which is bluegrass night...sat at the bar- served a frosty cold draft as soon as I sat down and another one when the first was gone. Good bar service, nice folks, good 6-piece band. Crowd got lively as the band played on. No cover, pass the hat at the end. No dancing, just sit and listen to the live music.
