This is my 4 year-old boy’s favorite museum by far. They have a wonderful train room in the basement that the whole family enjoys and a fun little toy room with games and he always seems to easily make new friends here. We have a very affordable annual membership now and have been 4 times already. Friendly staff and easy fun for the family—very recommended for a half day trip if you’re on the north shore or a full day if you’re coming from Boston or beyond

I came here with my ten-year-old granddaughter, who I knew would be delighted with the doll collection, the dollhouses, and the assorted miniature furniture and accessories. She--and I--were not disappointed. What I didn't expect was how fascinated she (what am I saying? we!) would be with the model train layouts. In addition to the few on the main floor, there is a whole roomful of them on the lower level. The detail in the layouts is amazing. She also enjoyed the interactive area -- I loved watching her puzzle out how to arrange the slides in a vertical structure to make a ball slide down the way she wanted it to. And she had fun with the "touchy-feely" game of identifying small objects just by touch. We were there a good two hours -- the bad news being that we ended up just missing lunch service at the Wenham Tea House across the street!

We had an amazing tour led by one of the staff. She spent lots of time telling us about the history of the town, the people, the politics. We were researching our families colonial heritage in the area and we couldn't have asked for amore knowledgable person. The train collection was great!Highly recommended.

The largest doll collection in the world, a year around Train Room with several operating layouts, exhibits that change regularly and a lot of Wenham History including the times and equipment when ice from Wenham Lake was shipped around the world.

A pleasant stop for an hour long visit. The ground level has a gift shop and a nice collection of antique dolls from different countries. The lower level is a wonderland of model train exhibits that are exceedingly well done and a joy to browse through and find all the unique oddities. There are steps for toddlers to stand on and chairs for grandparents to get comfortable while the kids roam around.

The Wenham Museum is wonderful if you have small children. The first floor has rotating displays, a permanent (and extensive) doll collection of dolls through the ages and from around the world, a collection of doll houses, and a model train. The lower floor has a small discovery/play area for small children and a room full of model train exhibits. The museum also has a charming gift shop full of great items for kids and a historic house attached to the property where they give tours to both adults and children. Young children could at least spend an hour here, and if you're local, they'll beg to come back.

The Wenham Museum is famous for their large collection of historical dolls and toys. Its fun to browse the collection showing kids which toys you had as a kid. The basement of the museum and some of the first floor displays a number of scale model trains which is a hit with most kids. Plus there is a small exploration playroom for young kids. The museum offers many programs for perschoolers once a month. Other special events throughout the year make it a place you can visit again and again.Kids under 6 could spend 4-hours here just playing. You could probably see all the exhibits in about 90-120 minutes. If you get hungry, the Wenham Tea House is across the street and open from breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea.

This museum is terrific if you have a child who loves trains. My 2 year old is obsessed with trains. The downstairs room has several model train layouts as well as one that runs along the ceiling! There are tons of little details that are fun to point out. My son was mesmerized. Upstairs they have a doll display, which he was not as interested in, and another train layout. Overall, this is a perfect outing for a family with kids.

An easy stop when you are in the neighborhood. Especially great as a introduction to museums for children. collections include antique dolls, trains and toys. Local history of the famous "Ice Trade" and a wonderful, small historic house. Have lunch at the Wenham Teahouse across the street. A step back in time to an earlier, quieter era.

Great for young kids (2-12). Trains are fun, dress-up clothes to try on, lots of hands-on opportunities. My grandchildren didn't want to leave.
