halibut cove adventures

Loved the 45 minute boat ride to Halibut Cove and back. Brrr! Bring a jacket. Loved the walk along the boardwalk in the cove, picking up shells on the beach. Loved seeing all the sea otters. Our boat captain and first mate (mother and daughter) live there, great talking to them. Lots of pictures. Now the restaurant, the Saltry, is the only on there. We found it pretty expensive (wine $13 per glass). Think we could have ordered more wisely, perhaps shared a salad and entree. Waiters were nice and attentive. Our dinner (2 women) was over $160. Definitely a once in a lifetime trek.

This was a special evening. The cruise over to the island was beautiful, filled with views of the glaciers. The food was very good. The oysters had been caught at 11;00 that morning. Beautiful adventure.
