I went to Whaler's Cove Lodge with two friends for a 4 day fishing trip. The food, lodge, hospitality, fishing, guides, entire staff, and the whole experience in general was outstanding. This place has the best fishing imaginable. We were sore at the end of each day from catching so many fish which was fine because you had a hot shower to look forward as well as a very cozy lodge to relax in with a buffet style meal that was always cooked to perfection. This place would be perfect for families as well as friends. I will definately take another trip to Whaler's in the future!

My wife, parents and family friends just returned from a 4 day fishing trip to Whalers Cove Lodge. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good, served buffet style and plentiful. The sleeping rooms were very comfortable. Fishing was very good, our second day was one of the best days of fishing I have ever experienced. Each couple brought back between 120lbs and 150lbs pounds of fillets. The mountains surrounding the lodge are beautiful and were were fortunate to have a couple of bright sunny days. We saw whales everyday and fishing for herring bait was great fun. I hope to return again and would like to book a 7 day trip

If you want to experience unbelievably good fishing in a remote, pristine wilderness with the convenience of a beautiful lodge with great meals and friendly people, you can't do better than Whalers' Cove Lodge. After a hearty breakfast and a generous "pack your own" sack lunch, head out for a day of fishing where you are almost guaranteed to catch salmon and halibut, and also will enjoy the other more occasional catches, such as rockfish, octopus, cod and more. Upon return to the dock, just walk off! That's right, the crew removes your fish locker, cleans the boat, cleans your fish, packages and freezes it that day and stores it in your personal fish locker while you kick back and tell fish stories. Your only decision is - 1 pound packages or 2 pound packages. Seriously! Dinner is always fun with great stories from the Powers, discussion of the day's catches, and often very interesting presentations from the native Tlingits. When the day comes all too quickly that it's time to leave, they ensure your fish is well-packaged for the trip home. Even in the Texas heat in August, we have never lost any fish, which is saying something. Forgot to mention, they take care of all your arrangements...just get yourself to Juneau (great small airport), and they'll pick you up/return you to a very nice, clean hotel and provide all the logistics to/from Killisnoo. I've seen everything from an 8-year old boy to an 80?-year old woman and everyone in between having a GREAT trip. Treat yourself!

The Powers family will go to any length to make sure your trip to their lodge meets your expectations. No mistake about it, this is a fishing lodge - but it's also a nature preserve, restaurant, and historical site. The atmosphere is family-friendly, but a group of adults will have a great time too. For those who like hands-on fishing instead of a captain who does everything for you, WCL has a set-up that insures success. I've been 4 times now and will go again (yes, I'm 'hooked'). As for the catch, my 15 year-old son & I came back with 200 lbs of salmon & halibut filets - all cut, packed, frozen, and packaged by WCL. Thanks guys!
