harpersville drive-in

Did you know that drive-in theaters still exist in Alabama? They do, with two in the Birmingham area. The Harpersville Drive-in is about 30 minutes southeast of the city on U.S. 280 just outside Harpersville. Don't expect too much in terms of creature comforts. It's a dual screen drive-in carved out of the woods with a walk up snack bar. Prices are reasonable with large soda under $3 and about the same for a bucket of popcorn. Admission is only $10 per carload, so there are lots of families packing the SUV's there. it operates seasonally from March through October. It has a sister drive-in in Trussville called the Argo Drive-in. It may not be a five star place, but it definitely brings the nostalgia factor to a night under the stars watching a flick. Four stars just for that.
