My wife and I drove 60 miles specifically for the tour and were very dissapointed. We paid $20 to see a few posters, a nine minute video, three goats and taste six cheeses. With the exception of the cheese tasting, the tour was nothing but a complete ripoff. We expected to see cheese being made but only saw one person placing cheese logs in bags. I think she was there just so there would be someone in the cheese-making room doing something and it would not be empty during our "tour". Save your time and money and skip the tour.

We visited Belle Chevre on October 18, 2014 on the day of their one year anniversary festival. Because of the festival there were no formal tours that day but there was enough to keep busy. They had multiple bands performing throughout the day along with an author and story teller. There were food vendors and we sampled 6 different goat cheese flavors. We had the opportunity to mingle with some goats including 2 baby goats...the little kids loved that experience. We didn't have the opportunity to talk with many of the staff members but the ones we did speak with were very friendly. It was a perfect day to visit with the festival going on. We will return for the tour another day.

We were really looking forward to a unique, tasty meal in downtown Elkmont, AL. We drove for over an hour to get to Belle Chevre and could hardly wait. To say the least, the food was bland, cold and none too appetizing. What a disappointment. The facility is very appealing and quaint. It would be a great place if they food had some taste and wasn't so pricey. We were still hungry when we left and stopped off to get a few tacos before heading home with $80 less in our pockets.

This is a cheese shop and cafe where you can purchase fine goat cheese products that include several flavors of frozen desserts. They are located in downtown Elkmont, Alabama in an old historical building. Some may consider it a little pricey, but the quality is unmatched .I enjoy driving over to enjoy a frozen desert and walk around the little town. I plan to dine there soon.

The Tasting Room is a quaint spot for lunch in little Elkmont. Best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had (made with pimiento goat cheese and bacon). Cheese products for sale in shop are a bit pricey, but worth it for something special. Same with their soap products. On Saturdays the popular pimiento spread goes fast, so if that's what you want, call ahead to make sure they have it. They ran out while I was there and they only make a certain amount to sell per day. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because they didn't have a lot of their cheese varieties for sale, very limited choices the day I went.

We expected to see a goat cheasery facility. Not so. There is a building with some cheese to purchase, and a building with some posters telling about the founders history and reviews, but the tour does not include seeing any cheese making in progress. You can see a person counting cheese logs and products but that is all your see inside the building. I was extremely disappointed to drive 60 miles for that. There are three goats out in the back outside area, but way too much poop in their fence area to venture in and pet them. Since the fee is 10 to 12 each person to see these, I did not feel the value was good for these reasons. The building is spotlessly clean but there basically is not much to see, no cheese making. When I reviewed their facebook page prior to visit I thought there would be much more detail and a few more pygmy goats or open farm area. I would buy there chese in the retail stores they sell but cannot recommend the cheasery as an attraction in my opinion.

You have to admire the owner and her vision for this place- not just anyone could move back to the country from NYC to pursue their passion for cheese and be so cool about it that people would want to come help you and make tours out of how you do it! Belle Chèvre is the real deal: these are genuine people looking to widen your palate and expose your tastebuds to good cheese. Making goat cheese isn't hard, and they are up front about that, but their secret to great cheese they will tell you about, and show you in the fun and educational tour. This is good for all ages, and after the tour you get to taste the cheese at a proper tasting bar. Part country and part NYC posh, this place even has a cute little restaurant out by the road where we took advantage of some tasty lunch paninis and picked up unique cheese creations they don't sell at Earth Fare or Costco before heading home. We wish there were more fun day-trips like this in this area, ones where you get to learn something new and see (taste!) first-hand how it is done while witnessing someone's passion for doing it. If you like goats, there is a part of the tour where you can even choose to go in and pet them. They are the sweetest most docile creatures, and this was a great trip.PS Even though we didn't have kids with us, we enjoyed that they had a little kids activities corner with educational and fun toys for purchase.

Despite a misleading sign on I-65 that suggested an incorrect location, we were able to find this lovely place with the assistance of a merchant near the next exit. Belle Chevre is a cheese shop, cafe, and maker of fine goat cheese products that include several flavors of frozen desserts, cakes, bagels with schmeer. The employees were personable and willing to answer questions about distribution, craft, the local economy. We were able to sample the products in stock and visit the nearby building where a larger cheese making facility is under construction.
