We always like the aura and groove around the Blue Moon and her guest...easy spot to just chill out and listen to some quality music

There was music that night, good cold beerand we meet Acadians from Nova Scotia that night. We felt part of the place a very layed back place where one can make freinds and listen to good music.A must see place while in Lafayette!

We came to watch The Pine Leaf boys and were swept up into a world of two-step, Cajun music and beer! We had the best night at this place - everyone is friendly, you're forced to dance whether you like it or not and despite the sweat, it's a fun night for all! Even better - beers are only $2 - the cheapest we've seen on our road trip. If you get the chance, GO.

What a fun idea! What a fun place! The feel is very bohemian and laid back. The bar atmosphere is great and the band we saw was perfect. We stayed one night in the balcony suite which was large, pretty clean, and eclectic. The common areas were accommodating and nice. However, the window unit air conditioner never cooled the room and the futon was not adequate as a second bed. We enjoyed the bar but didn't particularly enjoy our overnight stay. And there was no one on duty when we checked out (though it was well within posted office hours) so we forfeited our key deposit. The sign said to slide the key and your address under the door and they would mail it but, after 3 weeks I've stopped looking for it. It was only $10 so not a big deal. I would love to give a higher rating but we just weren't quite satisfied.

Went here to see the band Lost Bayou Ramblers. Not a really big place, actually is the back porch of a house that has been expanded. The have heaters four the cold weather times. Very small bar space, when the music starts, they don't allow people too sit at the bar so that everyone has easy access. The bar staff is quick to serve! Great staff! Several beer offerings, I had two different Abita beers, Andygator and Jocamo IPA, loved them both! If you want to dance to true cajun music, claim your dance floor space when you arrive because the place will be packed! Not many places to sit, but who can sit when your listening to great music! We will definitely go back to this spot!! Duo not miss this if you travel to south Louisiana!

Warm, lively, friendly, colourful and full of fun and drinks - this place is a must go to, for any music lover; especially the weekend nights. Dance your way into the night to some of the finest Cajun bands playing foot tapping music.

We stayed here for one night whilst heading back from New Orleans to Houston. We had the upstairs private room which was perfect for us and had our own little balcony. In the evening we went down to the bar, although if you're after anything other than beer or vodka, prepare to be disappointed. It got quite busy after about 10.30pm (Saturday night) and the music seemed pretty good. Try not to go to the bar toilets whilst you're here because the facilities are pretty disgusting.Although I'd definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

We went there at an improvised jam night, with 8 or 10 musicians that simply got together and sang/played. The dance floor (if so can be called) is rather small, but there were always 5-6 couples dancing. We don't know how to dance cajun but the steps are not so hard to get, so both my wife and I ended up being invited and danced.

The only reason this dump has a following is becuase of the artist that perform their. Other than that its a dump with arrogant employees.

This bar is an experience. It is very small inside and a large part of this bar is outside. It is absolutely fabulous!

This was probably my favourite places I stayed whilst travelling in the States. The guest house is warm and friendly with very helpful staff. There are two dorms downstairs and I think a couple upstairs. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm, towels and bedding provided very comfortable. Bathroom very clean downstairs and a great big kitchen to socialise in, there is even some food for everyone to use. When we arrived there were fiddlers on the porch and a band playing out back that night who were amazing! If you're staying the night whilst bands are playing, obviously its going to be a little noisy but everyone was outside joining in!! You get to see the bands for free if you stay also, you just get a wristband. Free Wifi also. Loved it here!!!

We'd. Night is jam night. Got there early, got a beer(blue moon) and settled in to hear local Cajun jamming. It started then 10 musicians arrived, students from France in lafayette for two weeks to experience Cajun music. They got out violins, guitars and accordions and joined in. What a cool evening!

The coolest hostel I've ever stayed at! The music each night in the bar was very entertaining and local "regulars" who come to play/enjoy the music were wonderful people. The staff was great and very helpful and the rooms were extremely clean and VERY affordable. I can't believe this place has so few reviews!

Intro disclaimer: This is a review of the music venue part of the Blue Moon Saloon. This review does not address the Guest House part of the Blue Moon as I have not experienced that.*****At first glance there is no way you would figure this place for a live music venue. We drove by the building 3 times before actually realizing that, YES, this is really the place. It is a part outdoor part indoor venue that is pretty much open to the outside elements. It's covered from rain. But, the cold or heat isn't really kept out.Regardless, I LOVE this place. It is totally casual. Jean, t-shirts, shorts, whatever. Don't over dress. When in Lafayette visiting my daughter going to ULL, I always check out who is playing. I only beccame aware of this place because my favorite local Houston area band happened to be playing there while we were in Lafayette one weekend. Great unexpected discovery!!The only slightly negative comment is that we all thought the drinks were a tad pricey for the alcohol you got. But, all in all, I highly recommend The Blue Moon Saloon for a night of good, live music.
