This is a volunteer run museum that is jammed packed with examples of the high points of the American working and art glass industry. The collection is extensive and preserves the rich history of the many great glassmakers of not only WV but all throughout the Ohio valley.Other displays show the tools and processes used in making glass and one of the volunteers will enthusaticly show you around. The gift shop has both vintage and new items for sale, with all proceeds supporting the museum. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

There is something for every glass collector to enjoy. We were there for a weekend to help ID a donation of oil lamps...over 2000 of them! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and everyone is made to feel welcome when they walk in the door. And it is FREE.

I love glass and was so excited to learn of this magnificent museum. Admission is free and there is plenty of metered street parking (25 cents per hour). We were greeted when we entered and I was overwhelmed with all the collections, the library, the workshop, the marble collection, the gift shop, the storage of duplicates - I could go on and on. I will return here to spend even more time. I got to speak at length with a nice gentleman about glass, their state collections, other glass museums and other related things. Another guy told us he was a volunteer and took the time to answer questions and show us more things. The gift shop is very unique in that it is FULL of used glass items that bring memories and make you smile of things that may be from your past. There are also artist items among the myriad of glass objects in the gift shop. It is almost overwhelming there are so many things to see here.Plan to spend at least an hour, if not more.

We had not been to Weston in quite a few years. The little glass museum has grown into a well lit, clean and charming tribute to the glass industry that has been so important to West Virginia. A great research room and gift shop round out the offerings. Be sure to sign up to be a member.

In a recent visit to the area we decided to stop in the museum. We are not into glass but we did walk all through the museum. All the cases were clean and bright. We were amazed at all the places where glass had been made. We even learned of some places that had once been near our hometown area. If you are not passionate about glass I wouldn't make a special trip here. If you are in the area and looking for something to do it was interesting.

We thoroughly enjoyed the museum - brought back some memories too - just filled with glass pieces from all over the United States - also has a marble collection - each piece was grouped with a similar piece from a different manufacture - just so much to see - we are not collectors but were in awe of some many pieces and nicely displayed too

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly . They were very helpful and extended the kindness to our family . I really cannot praise them enough and would recommend if in the area go there and you won't be disappointed .

Due to a completely volunteer staff, this facility is grossly undermanned but incredibly well stocked with West Virginia glass. For those uninformed, the inventory is extensive with most in storage for rotating displays; the place may appear to be only full of glass, but for the collector, historian or tradesman - this is a treasure trove of hand blown, artesian and early industrial glass from the long tradition of WV glass blowers. The marble section is full of rare offerings. It's a shame that the state government is not on board to take this collection of donated collections from WV benefactors to give it the home and attention it deserves. Free Admission - limited hours.

If you are in town for something else, it's something to do. Tons of glass to browse through, but I wasn't overly impressed. We did get a greeting right away from the person working, but when checking out we had to hear about her horrible day and some personal issues. I definitely would not go out of my way to make the trip.

From other reviews, I expected a more professional place.. They do have a huge collection, but they were not good at telling the story of WV glass making. It's a bit of a hodge podge. Nice volunteers.

This place is amazing. It has grown exponentially since my last visit a decade ago. It's cool because they not only have gorgeous decorative glass--they also have displays of glassmaking equipment and utilitarian glass. And it's free--what more can you ask for?

The Museum of American Glass in West Virginia is a 'must see' for every glass collector. There are beautiful displays that are ever changing, interactive opportunities, a fully stocked research library and archives, a small Museum Store that includes individual dealer cases, paperweights, books, monographs on a variety of glass related subjects, and etc., etc. The Museum is constantly expanding and growing. A stop in Weston on Main Avenue to see and view the Museum will be a memorable experience...and one you will return to again and again!! Children are welcome as well as glass researchers, glass enthusiasts and all who are curious about glass history....! It's a gem.

The day was HOT, we had an hour to kill before going to the TALA so we walked around town and came upon this museum. The window displays drew us in. Several year ago we toured the Corning Museum of Glass in NY and loved it. But what we saw there was mostly art glass. What this little museum has is a wonderful collection of all sorts of glass. Row after row of utilitarian, decorative, commercial...all types of glass and history. There is a small store which has a lot of books and lots of items for a place so small. And, though we didn't find it out until our son had sat outside in the heat-they welcome well behaved dogs on a leash so don't let that stop you. If you love glass, color, history or any combo of those go here!!!

I just happened to be in the area with some time to kill and found a brochure for this place and thought I'd check it out. I'm glad I stopped. Great collections and very helpful/knowledgeable staff. They'll be expanding soon so next time I'm in the area I'll have to check it out again. I really liked the marble collection.

This is a very nice display of American GLass. I learned alot about the Glass industry in WV that I had not know, even though I grew up in this area. I am glad I did not take my children, that would have been a disaster! Be sure to use street parking r park at the public parking across from the Asylum and walk (is is very close) Do not park at the bank across the street from the Glass Museum
