The Letcher County Recreational Center is a fairly new establishment. There are several things to do : a large play area for kids, bowling alley, gym, track, basketball/volleyball court, game room, rock wall, and a concession stand. Price for kids under 12 is $3 each to play either basketball or the play area. The rock wall is $5 each time. The bowling alley has separate pricing. I'm not certain on adult admission. You can go in with your child and watch them as they play for free. But if you participate, you are required to pay. However, if they have a "party" scheduled, your children will not be permitted to play in the play area. You need to call in advance to see if it is open. My husband, boys, and I have been to this establishment several times and haven't had any negative experiences until tonight. We paid to let the kids play, but when we went in, all the lights in the huge play area were out except two. We requested they turn them on, and the worker said all other 8 were blown. I ask "We paid to play in the dark?" She said "Yes." and walked off. They never offered us a discount or offered to let us do something else in exchange. We pretty much wasted our money. They should have at least warned us before they allowed us to pay admission. We let the kids play a couple games in the game room (about $0.50 per game) and left. I will take my children back, but I will find out about the lighting before I pay.

I needed to workout and do something physically challenging after sitting in a car for hours. It was very refreshing, the people at the desk were kind and the equipments were top notch.

This is a wonderful recreational center! They have a lovely basketball court with plenty of basketballs available. They also have a track above the court. Of course they have a pretty good selection of exercise equipment. They also offer a variety of aerobic classes. Not only is a workout area, but they often host parties for children because they have a bowling alley, a big play area, and a wonderful rock wall. The prices are also pretty good too! Oh and did I mention the woman at the front desk was super friendly!
