It is also called the Abner Gaines House. The history of this historical house and farm is quite fascinating. You can take a fascinating tour of the house and out buildings. It is very easy to find even thought it is a little bit off the beaten path. It is one of those places that is right in your own neighborhood but you never visit. The City of Walton, KY recently purchased it so that it could be properly maintained. The State of KY recently installed the brown highway signs indicating that the property is now on the State Historical List. The tours are given by docents in period costume. The Gaines Tavern House has various events throughout the year such as vintage car shows, vintage clothing displays, art on the lawn and ice cream socials. I think the tour cost maybe two or three dollars. But you can walk around the grounds for free. Well worth a visit!!
