We spent a beautiful autumn day in Kentucky tracing Daniel Boone's footsteps from Cumberland Gap to Boonesborough before heading toward Paris and horse country. After checking out Claiborne Farms, once home to Secretariat and the birthplace of Sea Biscuit, we couldn't resist stopping by the Duncan Tavern in downtown Paris. This beautifully restored stone tavern was built in 1788 and in its day was a gathering place for many Kentucky pioneers including Daniel Boone! Unfortunately, the museum was closed for a special event but still it was fun to see this historic building which can claim, "Daniel Boone was Here"! Look for the Kentucky DAR website for more information about the tavern.
