Having visit Lake Linville several times since I wrote the previous review, I realize it is a great to take your pontoon/boat, family or friends and enjoy a relaxing time. When I was there before we were just looking for a long-time place to put our RV to be near Renfro Valley and be near my grandson and family who live at Houston Point just out of Mt Vernon. Since then we bought a pontoon and have spent really relaxing Sundays on the lake. I understand more why the campground isn't up to par. There is no public/city water line there. It apparently is within the city limits of Mt Vernon and there are no funds for the water services. The restaurant/bait shop at the dock there is a nice place to eat. And although it was closed the last time we were there in early fall, a sign said it would be re-opening under new management. I am looking forward to going back to the lake. The mess another reviewed mentioned at or near the campground was probably caused by the beautiful geese that stay in that area. I think this area could be a beautiful place if the right management took it over, the homes in the neighborhood are nice well-kept and I would be more than glad to live in the area. One other point, there is a small fee for putting you boat/pontoon in the lake that is more than reasonable. And it was quite safe to leave ours there, with belongings in it, overnight.

I had to write a follow up to my first review. I can no longer recomend anyone stay at this campground it apperenty has fallen under bad management and disrepair. The last time I went it was like camping in a swamp that hadnt been mowed. They have also turned the campground into a homeless shelter There are people living there in vehicles tents and pull along campers that look like they should be taken to the junkyard. I pulled in that evening with my camper in tow only stayed one night due to the condition and shady characters living there. it is sad they let this place get in the shape its in. My recomendation is if you want to stay in this area stay at koa or renfro valley both are still close to lake linville.

Not much to write about here, this lake don't have anything going for it. the campground is in a swampy field by the water with no shade trees at all. very primitive at least!! I have tried to fish here and have never caught anything worth keeping or to brag about, my suggestion is to keep traveling to lake Cumberland or Dale Hollow if you are truely wanting to catch some fish.

The lake is pretty. In a nice neighborhood. Probably great fishing. RV park is not somewhere I would stay.

I love to stay at lake linvelle its a small lake in Mt Vernon ky its right across the road from Renfro Valley and The Kentucky music hall of fame. Dont know how it got listed to be in willamsburg which is 45 minuets or better south of the lake. The campground is nothing special its basicly a field across from houses so dont expect to be secluded but the lake is almost never crowded the fishing is good from a boat you wont catch much from the bank. and they rent pontoons at the dock for 40 buck for 8 hours.

Lake Linville Campground was worse than horrible, did not stay there after a brief drive thru. Few electric hook ups. No water that I saw. No gravel on spots. No fire rings. Maybe 2 picnic tables if that. no grills. Goose dodo every where. Nasty but close to the lake :)
