After traveling to this destination during a horrible rain storm we find ourselves on an awful road which had huge pot holes and looks as though no one cared enough to take care of them. Once we finally arrived at our destination. We were informed that they were closing 45 minutes early. On a Saturday!!!! We arrived at 4:15 they didn't even open the door for us,they came out and said we are closed. Horrible service, terrible roads, remember customers keep you open!!!!!!

Very helpful woman who told us about the grapes they grow and the different wines. Gave us free taste of a few to compare. We bought 4 bottles here. We were even invited back for when they have an outdoor event with music and wine...and told to bring our pets. I wish we could have but we were traveling to Boston. I wish this winery was close to my hometown. Great find.

Visited on a gorgeous Indian Summer Saturday afternoon 09/2014. This was overall just a delightful experience. Beautiful setting, vineyards were in full bloom, grapes were succulent, ripe and beckoning to be harvested. The entire experience was welcoming and organized. After checking in, we visited one of the wine stations for our tasting, which was on a terrace, covered by a canopy, overlooking the vineyards. Live jazz was being performed inside the "barn" which added to the experience. Seven wines were offered for the tasting. I'm not a Chardonnay lover, but the 2011 Greenvale Chardonnay was superb: aged in 5 year old oak French oak barrels which made the oak subtle, which I like. Light, fruity, excellent. Vidal Franc was delightful and crisp. Skipping Stone White was an interesting blend with a slight sweetness. We took a tour of the vineyard which was a great experience. Our tour guide (wish I could remember her name!) was excellent. We walked through the property, visiting the areas of each of the grapes grown, and were explained the difference (Pino Gris vs Chardonnay vs Vidal Blanc vs Cayuga vs etc ...), the cultivation process and more. This is a great place for an education for both the novice and those who are educated. Tour guide was knowledgable, personable, and more. I cannot say enough good things regarding this experience. I would definitely recommend and visit again.

Greenvale Vineyards was one of the most highly rated vineyards in Rhode Island that I came across in my searches. The grounds were nice and the tour took us through most of the property which included some nice views. The wine tasting however was about average. It seemed a little rushed, even though we were the only ones there. I would definitely visit for the tour (it's free) but the wine tasting (which is only $12) was okay...not something to write home about.

We spent a wonderful afternoon on Saturday listening to a fabulous jazz singer Daryl Sherman with a great jazz trio. The grounds are lovely and many people brought picnic lunches to sit on the lawn. The music is inside a large one room building with all the windows and doors opened. There are tastings (many bridal shower parties) or buy wine by the bottle or glass.

I went to the winery with a group of 10. We all paid $15 for a wine tasting. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and we had to wait. Our tasting consisted of extra small portions of 5 whites and 2 reds. I was not impressed with the taste and I was extremely disappointed in the portions. In fact, I complained about the tiny portions to 3 omit the staff. All of them told me that it was the "law" to provide no more than 1 ounce for the tastings. That factoid is a blatant misrepresentation of a law where you get free tastes at liquor stores along the highway, I believe. It is not the case for paying customers. So, we got 7 ounces of below average quality wine for $15, a true rip off. Furthermore, we were provided with minimal information on their wine making and bottling processes. On a positive note, the grounds were nice and the band was good.

Wife and I visited this vineyard while in newport area. We did a tasting of 7 wines (their full offering) and they were quite good. Certainly no crowds. The tour was an outside one so not completely accessable for those with walking issues. The other vineyard tours in the area focused on the wine making and bottling so this was a nice balance. More about the grapes and how they are raised and cared for. We happened to be here mid day but clearly there is also a strong connection to Jazz at this winery - if i had to go again would try to attend during one of their "jam" sessions. A very nice place to spend a couple of hours

I visited Greenvale Vineyards last weekend when we visited Newport. We toured the vineyard and then tasted a flight of 7 wines - 5 white and 2 red. The property is beautiful. The wines were very good - I bought a few bottles of the white wines to bring home with me. The staff were very friendly, knowledgable and it was a fun afternoon.

We visited Greenvale Vineyards on the recommendation of our Innkeeper, and were so glad we did. A little off the beaten path -- literally - drive slowly -- but so worth it. The setting is simply magnificent with water views and animals from the nearby farm. The retail part of the vineyard is housed in a barn on the property with several picnic tables to enjoy your purchases should you so choose. We did a tasting -- a bargain for $12 -- and Tilly, our guide was informative and entertaining. The wines -- all made from grapes grown on the property -- were very good and we would up taking a few bottles home. All in all, a wonderful adventure during our weekend away, and another excellent reason to return!

I stumbled accidentally upon this venue during a relaxing weekend coastal drive and am thrilled at the discovery! The location is pristine and magnificent, quiet and overlooking stunning green and ocean vistas; and the wine is superb! We tasted several varieties and ended up taking several bottles home. I will definitely be returning this summer for another tasting, and will recommend this Rhode Island marvel to others!

Very small vineyard set in a large meadow with a few vines planted. There are no tours, but you can walk around, bring a picnic and listen to live music every Saturday from 1-4. The barn is very cute with a nice patio and a few tables. They have more white wines then red, (I believe only 2 reds) so if you are not a white wine drinker, this may not be the place for you. The road in is a little tough as it is extremely narrow and half dirt/ rocks and some cement. At one point I thought I popped my tire trying to avoid hitting a bachelorette party that was just walking in the middle of the road towards the winery. The only downside is the amount of bachelorette partys, who really take over the small winery. I waited almost 20 minutes in line to buy a bottle of wine because a group just wanted their free sample glass wrapped in tissue paper (when they could have just done it themselves, but wanted the cashier to do it).

I've been to tons of wineries and was really excited to try all the ones close by. We stopped here after Newport Vineyards and I wasn't really that impressed. The staff was very nice and helpful, I just thought it seemed a little dull and too open in the tasting room, like they had just moved in there. Wasn't a fan of the wine, but that's just me, I like them sweeter, wasn't too many choices.

We love to go to Greenvale Vineyards in the summer for their wine tasting and jazz on Saturday afternoons. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual and the wines offer a nice variety for a regional grower. Our perfect Saturday consists of Greenvale first followed up by polo at Newport Polo immediately afterwards. Great summer combo!

We visited Greenvale Vineyards on a recent trip to Newport and was disappointed with our experience. The tasting room was barren and lifeless, and the two employees that were working were not at all engaging. I do understand that it is the middle of winter, but if you are going to be open, you should make your business as inviting as possible. We visited another close by vineyard later the same day and had quite the opposite experience. Perhaps visit=ing in the summer months will yield a more positive experience. We'll just have to wait and see.

What a nice opportunity to check out Greenvale Vineyards -- and there will be more opportunities coming our way this season as Greenvale celebrates fall/winter holidays. The highlight of the trip was the tractor tour of the vineyards with a lovely, knowledgable volunteer (and former employee) who answered our every question about the vineyard, the community, grapes, etc. The pourers were lovely as well. There was great jazz music to enjoy. And food to taste. I look forward to their December holiday open house. The place will be gorgous at Christmas. Oh -- and the wine! It's terrific. Something for every palate.
