I placed a reservation over the phone and the person I spoke to promised me a campsite in the area removed from the RV camping. When we arrived, not only were we placed directly next to the RVs, but our campsite was already occupied! We decided to go to a different campground but the person in the office said that because we paid with a card, we could not get reimbursed that day and to call Jill in the Parks department for reimbursement. We have been calling and leaving messages for over a week with no response.I am extremely fed up that the campground management has not only failed to honor reservations but refuses to respond to requests for return of payment - we spent a total of about 20 minutes in their campground and did not even take anything out of our car before deciding to leave, and here we are out $50.

I attended a wedding reception at the pavilion. Great venue with beach access and gorgeous views! Such a serene place with great places to walk. The pavilion was rebuilt recently and was a perfect setting for a casual reception.

Came here to explore another remnant of American history. Much of site has been backfilled and is inaccesible. Few old batteries to check out and climb on. Views over to Dutch Island. Good for an hour outside to check out the grounds.

I went camping in a tent over the weekend of June 7 and right from the start the experience was terrible! When we got there and checked in, we went to the site that we had booked and there was already somebody there with the tent all set up and everything. We went to the booth where a young girl whochecked us in was working and she said that no one should be camping there and that he needed to leave. Mind you, it was 3 PM and check out time was supposed to be 11 AM! The girl was calling people on her walkie-talkie and no one was responding and she apologized and said she could not leave her booth or people would be able to sneak into the campgrounds. I had to take matters into my own hands and tell the guy at our spot that this was our spot that we paid for and he needed to leave. The man became very argumentative and things escalated which was very uncomfortable. After settling in and setting up our tent at the site, which by the way has zero trees or any kind of shade around it so you are basically in the middle of a hot field which was terrible. There are all RVs lined up and then the area they have for camping is just off to the side. In fact the only trees there were were the ones that block the view to the ocean… Made no sense to me. Anyway there was a wedding going on and in the pavilion which was very close to our campsite and the DJ and wedding goers partied until about 11 o'clock at night. Then when they left there was another band close by playing drums and screaming into a microphone which basically kept us up all night. Needless to say it was a terrible time and I ended up leaving a night early. It was awful… I do not recommend staying there at all!

Great place to walk the dogs, play sports, romantic walks. Surrounded on all sides by water, wonderful views of the harbor, bay, and ocean.

what an awful place. There is a $20.00 charge for this dirty and crumbling place. It smells bad. There is a dock that you can fish off of , if you can find room and it is so decrepit I wouldn't walk on it. It was very dirty with debris and beer cans lying around. We had to drive and park on a crumbling asphalt drive. there is a place for campers I don't know what thats like.We couldn't find a rest room . The staff were rude when we tried to ask questions. They are quick to take your money but slow with answers if they answer at all.I will go to the other fort -WETHERALL on the other side. It is free, beautifully maintained and fishing is great. There are easy access rest rooms and a beautiful picnic area,

NIce place to enjoy sailboat gazing. Take a picnic lunch or bottle of wine at sunset. Little coves and points to park car and walk out to benches.

Fort Getty, especially during the summer, is not a park...it's a campground. If you have an RV, enjoy, but don't expect to spend a quiet day taking in nature with the family. There are other great parks in Jamestown (Fort Wetherill and Beaver Tail) but this is one you can skip.

Staff was not overly friendly or informative; Fort is interesting but many of the areas need some repair as it is really old and looks like it is falling apart. Quite a few areas look like they are being used for storage. Interesting but needs some work and friendlier staff

The location of the Campground is beautiful. The campground itself has no amenities and is not kept up by the town. The town uses the money raised by the campground to support their town, and puts back very little in campground improvements.

Campground just OK, no trees, could be very very hot in the summer months, nice little beaches, good walking paths and roads, minimal transient sites, water/elec Ok views if you are on the outer roads and seasonal, otherwise you view is of the backs of other campers.
