We used to stop here on our way to have dinner at Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf when our niece and nephews where younger. Kids will enjoy exploring in the salt pools while the adults admire the ocean views and ocean front properties.

Always a pleasant place to spend some quiet time. An easy walk from New Harbor, Shaws Lobster Wharf and Harborside Cottage.

It's a very small, rocky beach that would be best to explore at low tide. Children who are curious about seashore creatures will enjoy exploring. And geology fans will enjoy the many shapes of rocks.

Nothing to dislike! Well, some killer mosquitoes early in the season, true -- but a lovely view leading out of New Harbor to the ocean.

Very cool, spend time in the pool looking for shells, and crabs, then hike the cliffs, the view of the bay is breath taking

Quiet, beautiful spot for anyone to explore what the tide brings in and leaves. 15 mins or hours. (Visit while tide is out).

Lovely spot! Spend an hour wading, turning over rocks hunting for green crabs. A great place to be close to nature.

We recently spent the morning at the salt pond with our two kids and it was an amazing place for the little people. It was a quite little pocket of serenity with an vast ocean backdrop. The salt pond was teaming, full of life and the kids found many things to explore. The other visitors there were also extremely respective of the preserve often sharing finds with others. I would recommend it coupled with a visit to the Pemaquid lighthouse.

A meditative place for sitting and watching and thinking. A stage for viewing all kinds of sea life- periwinkles, little crabs, just teeming with tiny creatures. There is a pamphlet on entry that explains the life and tells you where to look for it. If you happen to get there on Rachel Carson's birthday- May 27- you might become part of a celebration. One year we were there with birthday cake and Neptune coming out of the sea(in a wetsuit)

I'm a big fan of Rachel Carson and I'm very glad she had a place in Maine like this to study and write about. But there's very little there now that's worth a visit. If you go at high tide it's just another rocky shore. If you go at low tide the cobbled beach is slippery with all kinds of seaweed but we saw no other sea life. Most disturbing of all are the parents and grandparents who let their children throw rocks in the salt pond when the signs and brochures say not to do it. If the pond fills up with rocks thrown by boys, it won't exist anymore. This vandalism ruined the few minutes we spent there.

Chance stop proved to be rewarding here. Beautiful ocean view, stone beach. Nature conversancy has done good job of preserving this spot in honor of Rachel Carson.

Not sure why there is so much hype over this tidal pool, but it is a stinky tidal pool that you may not want to walk around in. We have stopped several times and have never found anything nice about it. There are so many other coastal spots nearby, and they are magnificent. Skip this one.

Just stumbled on to this. Kids love it, they had water shoes on walking in the pond. Starfish, and other small sea creatures.

Saw more sea critters than you can shake a stick at! Easy to find, easy to navigate once you get there. A spectacular view and DEFINATELY kid friendly, but plenty for the grown ups too!

you can stop along the road, walk down to the rocky beach and pond and observe the birds and wildlife in the area. on this trip there was a fox searching the area and at low tide, very interesting items in the tidal pond. take a few minutes or just sit on the rocks and enjoy the sights and sounds.
