This is a must on any travel itinerary to New England. From the Garden of the Five Senses to the Children's Garden, the designers have created a botanical jewel ! Amercian Cruise Lines now stops at Boothbay Harbor to allow their guests to marvel at the 500+ acres. I love their website as well.

This was a wonderful day for our entire family. The gardens are well kept and diverse. My favorite attraction was the sensory garden area and accessible garden area. It was so fascinating how they created experiences to hone in on each sense. I liked the massage stones for tired feet. I took a ton of pictures of the accessible raised beds and tools. It was so well done and really showed that gardening can be for everyone. The children's garden is so well done. as a teacher, I was blown away. Everything was very child centered and allowed kids to get involved in the garden. I love that the different areas were designed around classic children's stories. I also love that the signs were all made by kids. What a treat.

These Gardens will show you a taste of almost everything in Coastal Maine...from the waterfront, to forests, to rock formations, and beautiful flowering trees and plants. Also, there is something for everyone...an enchanting children's garden which will charm adults as well, a sensory garden, easily walked pathways and longer hikes on trails through the woods and along the water, and a special spot for children to create their own fairy houses. If you visit in the spring or early summer, do not miss the rhododendron garden which is set off by itself about one-eighth of a mile from the visitor center. The Gardens will be one of the highlights of your visit to Mid-Coast Maine.

Even at the ebb of the season these gardens are fantastic! From the quiet meditation on the labyrinth to the stone pool carved by Main's own David Holmes there is nothing lacking. Blooms were not aplenty in mid October but it did not matter at all. Very striking plantings gave a visual feast. I am very impressed!

The majestic garden finds of these gardens are nested off the beaten path of this area in Maine and yet are relatively easy to reach when visiting the same.

I am a Master Gardener and have long planned a trip to the Maine Botanical Gardens. My husband and I finally made it happen a couple months ago, and were absolutely blown away at the scope and beauty of the gardens. We were in the Booth Bay area (up from Southern, NH for the weekend) and realized how close we were, so took a few hours to tour the grounds. Our expectations were low since it was October and we figured that there wouldn't be much to see. WRONG! Oh my, the gardens, while past-peak, were still stunning. Even my husband, who is not a gardener, but enjoys the results of my gardening efforts, was enthralled by the variety of perennial and woodland gardens. We walked and walked the lovely paths and took in an amazing array of native and non-native plantings. Every twist and turn of the path revealed a new, breath-taking scene. The combination of perennials, shrubs and seasonal annuals was so beautifully done. You simply must visit this garden if you have even a passing interest in nature. The path through a vegetable garden, vertical gardens, rose gardens, wild flower gardens, etc. gently winds down through gorgeous woodlands with a phenomenal variety of ferns and mosses and evergreens. The meditation garden should not be missed, although wheelchairs are prohibited from this part of the property due to the steeper descent to this garden.Even if you don't have small children, we highly recommend you visit the Children's Garden which welcomes you with 3 large granite whale shaped stones which spout water! They are so fanciful and charming, and are just one example of the magic of the children's garden. We already have plans to return in the Spring and probably late Summer to experience the different seasons. If you go, the staff is wonderful and they have umbrellas for your use. The facility is spacious and clean with nice bathrooms, gift shop and lovely cafe. We had wonderful soups and sandwiches for lunch. All in all, it was a day to remember.

I simply can not say enough good things about the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. We first went there in September of 2013 and my wife and I had such a good time that we made plans to return the next year. I have been to quite a few gardens over the years but never one as well run and as well looked after as this. Even the cafe is good, serving some of the best food in the area. Last year the weather was a little on the damp side but we still had a good time. This year the weather was perfect and we had an even better time. It really is a great day out and very good value for money.

This garden has a long way to go, it is very young and much of it is recently planted but there is much to experience and a lot to enjoy here. There is plenty of walking if you do the whole site but for those with children, the Children's Garden has much to commend it, at least the children there on the day of our visit thought so.

First, thanks to my fellow Trip Advisors. I wasn't sure whether to include this stop in our recent trip to Maine, but reviews convinced me I should - and we were not sorry! We stopped at the Gardens on a beautiful sunny day, but it was early October, and we were wondering how much was still in bloom. The garden was awash in lush blooms, foliage, pumpkins, and amazing color. We really enjoyed our time there. We spent about 1.5 hours walking around outside, but only covered the areas of the garden closest to the Visitor's Center - never even made it down to the pier! We had lunch in the cafe when we first arrived, and it was okay. Nothing outstanding, but a decent light bite to fortify us for our stroll. This is definitely a must-see!

Plan on spending the day at this amazing facility. Everything is wonderful. The staff are extremely friendly and approachable. The fantastic trails lead to a variety of different gardens and other attractions. There are several venues designed especially to delight children. The only problem may be that you will need to return for a second day to take in and fully appreciate this wonderful site.

Enjoyed the gardens very much. Spent 2 hours walking the various paths and seeing gardens. It is wonderful place to visit, even in the fall.

A senior citizen admission is offered and parking is free. The self guided tour of the gardens is amazing. There are plenty of benches to sit and water fountains. Our favorite was the Fairy Garden. Everything is made/constructed with materials found in the gardens. I wish our grandchildren had been with us. Even though it was early October, there still were blooming flowers. The pine trees smelled wonderful. We had lunch in the café and that was good.

We've been travelling to Boothbay for years and never visited. I wish we had come when the children were little. The landscaping is amazing and the paths are such a pleasure to walk. Great views!

This was our summer of botanical gardens. many ranked as some of the best in the world For a garden opened only 7 years ago, it is delightful. I expect it to improve with age as it matures. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.We particularly enjoyed a harbor cruse with Captain Griffith on the Beagle. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. The Beagle is electric, quiet enough to get close to wildlife.
