rapids theatre

When first driving up to the Rapids Theatre, I almost thought we were in the wrong area. Sadly this gem is located in a run down area (beautiful building across from the theatre which is boarded up, would be a stunning loft i'm sure!) of Buffalo.There is ample parking behind the theatre and some street parking out infront. From the outside, didn't think much of it, but once you step inside, you see the beauty and it made me happy to see they kept it up.We were there for a wedding, and it was a great venue. Their wedding had about 100 people, and were seated on opposite sides of the theatre (dance floor in the middle) and the wedding party sat at the head table, located on the stage. They also had AV capabilities that allowed people to see everything that was going on the stage no matter where you sat or if someone was blocking your view).I can see this place being a fun intimate venue for live music and of course theatre. We were told tales of ghosts (friendly!) that reside in this building! If I am ever in the area again, would love to find out more about the history of this building.

This is the second time I attended this venue to see this band. Great time with family & friends, awesome show to ring in the New Year. Huge bar, convenient location, easily accessible, nearby parking available. On the down-side ~ Venue is a bit small and wear comfortable shoes because there is no seating.

I have attended two shows at the Rapids Theatre. It is a great place to see live music. In it's past life it must have been some sort of movie theater or possibly opera house. The interior is beautiful. The place is set up so that it is easy to get a nice view of the stage. Sound quality is very good. The staff is very professional and friendly. Huge bar with very attentive bartenders. Bathrooms have been remodeled. One word of warning. There are no seats, everyone has to stand. The neighborhood is a little creepy. Unclear where patrons are supposed to park. That being said, I found free on street parking within a block of the place both times I attended shows.
