A great place to learn the basics and it's cheap in the pocket.

Small ski center with only 4 lifts but close by (not very far) and kept clean. Cost is reasonable. Sterling Forest Ski Center does not usually get too crowded during the week and it is easy to get to, which is another plus.

Great for night skiing during the week. A bit more to offer than Campgaw.

I live literally 10 minutes from Sterling Forest but I really haven't gone skiing here in years, so I don't know anything else about the place except for the mountain itself. It is small, and i don't think it's worth it. You can drive a half-hour more and get to Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ. It's a much larger mountain with a much wider variety of terrain. If you go midweek to Mountain Creek, you'll avoid the crowds.

I go to Tuxedo Park School (private school) and grades 3+ get to go here to ski once a week for five weeks and the sixth is race dayI have been going to this school ever since I was in 2nd grade and right now I'm going into fifthNow about the ski mountainThis place is OK but there is a better ski place closer and better but it is expensive. This place only has a couple of ski lifts when Mt Peter has a lot more. WARNING: IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER THIS PLACE IS KILLER CROWDED BECAUSE OF THE RENAISSANCE FAIR.This place is nice if you are just looking to have a good time and not have fun like you would in Mt peter
