Attended a Protectors of Pine Oak Woods meeting here celebrating their 40th Anniversary. They seem to be quite involved with this State Park. I am looking forward to returning during the fair weather to hike the trails.

Easily navigated trails, can't get lost if you tried but balanced with wonderful chances to see Staten Island's rich wildlife and plant! Numerous trails allows for walks from 10 minutes long to all afternoon. Programs and nature guides available on the weekends are simply the best on Staten Island.

Blue Heron is a nice park and Education Center. There are lots of programs for the community that are either free or low cost and the trails are well maintained. The trails are suitable for all fitness and age levels. There are even puppet shows and a mini summer camp held there. The education center houses a few animals and reptiles and the staff is very friendly. Bathroom are usually clean.
