We've been on the Caldwell Belle 3 times. The first was a 6 hour cruise in Summer 2012 on the Mohawk River with the previous owner, Captain Bob. Then in October 2013 we did a 3 hour cruise with new owners, Marla and Maria as they came to the end of their 1st season. Both of those outings were calming and most relaxing; but the overnight tour to Whitehall we did Sep 27-28, 2014 was outstanding. The boat is spotless; and the pride shows when you see all staff pitching in to wash windows and mop the decks. Aside from the cooperation of the weather--which was perfect--the ride, the scenery, wildlife, and staff made this weekend trip as relaxing and tranquil as any week-long trip to just about anywhere. Marla and Maria did a fine job of explaining various facts about the history of the Champlain Canal and deckhand Jose kept a keen eye for wildlife to point out. He made sure we didn't miss the Bald Eagle that presented itself. Crewman Michael made sure we got in and out of the locks safely and that all the guests on board were comfortable and well taken care of. The restaurant for dinner was top notch, great food, right at the water's edge with atmosphere to match the relaxed nature of the Caldwell Belle and crew. Our inn for the night was just as homey and comfortable as you could possibly ask for, situated on the lake itself. The choice of restaurant and inn by Mohawk Maiden Cruises speaks volumes to how much they care about making their overnight offering truely a "mini vacation"!

Soothing hour and a half, knowledgeable crew, saw an eagle! Afterward, we strolled over to the lock where the boat docks and watched the canal lock in action.

My young grandsons thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon on the Champlain Canal & Hudson River. The 1 1/2 hour Locks & Waterfall Cruise was just enough for my grandsons. The Caldwell Belle glides along the waterway while the narrator points out wildlife & points of interest. The Saratoga Monument can be seen easily from the boat. The highlight of the cruise, of course, is going through Lock C5. It is a thrilling learning experience for the children as well adults on board. A small waterfall can be viewed half way through the trip. The waterway offers a chance to see other types of vessels from pleasure boats to tugboats & barges. Beverages & light snacks are for sale on board. There is an enclosed lower deck. The upper deck s open with a canopy in the middle. There are ample seats on both decks. Visitors may also bring their own refreshments on board. A variety of other cruises are also offered including overnight cruises.

I grew up in this area, and lived here for almost 30yrs, not once did I take the opportunity to enjoy the Hudson River as I did the day I went on the Mohawk Maiden Cruise. It was a nice day for the cruise, it was serene and gentle ride. The staff was very knowledgeable of the history surrounding the Hudson River. (More than I knew and I grew up here :) ) More to the point, I look forward to enjoying one of Mohawk Maiden Cruise's other offerings of cruises. (Make sure you Bring a Camera !! ) Thanks again to the owners and onboard staff Guide Maria, Cpt. Marla and Michael <- the deck hand. See you Soon !Mark J Fitch
