This place is just beautiful. Who ever came up with this idea and designed the place are geniuses. I thought it would just be an open garden with a walkway, but there is so much more than that. There is a small performance area where they have a lunchtime performance during the summer. I would love to grab a lunch and watch a show during my lunch break. There is also a small food court and gift area. This is a must see when you're in the city.

A unique walk in elevated green space with great views of the city and the Hudson. It is really refreshing to see the city from a different angle.

As New Zealanders we are used to green paddocks and trees and we had seen the story of these old train lines on our television a couple of years ago. It was high on my list of must does and we were not disappointed. Friends had advised us to avoid the weekends as it is really popular. We left early on a stunning blue skied autumn morning from 46th W st...What a beautiful way to enjoy the views of the Hudson River and the city buildings. The walkway is made a a variety of materials and formed in interesting ways. The northern end is newly finished-some features are currently being built...and the plantings at the southern end are more established. It's a green oasis with photo opportunities running the entire length. We popped into Chelsea market for a pizza lunch then back to the highline before walking through West village, another picturesque part of NYC. After our walk we hired bikes at Battery Park and ride over the Manhattan bridge to DUMBO and then back over the Brooklyn Bridge. A superb day in Spent in the sunshine. Take your time, enjoy the sights and the people.

The High Line is amazing, a park in the sky and well worth the walk from end to end to see all the differing landscapes in the city. What a wonderful achievement.

Go above and hike the old rail lines...and be a part of the newest NYC experience. Street art, funky sculptures and innovative food stops await you on this hike through the concrete jungle. Join the crowds and enjoy the varied views of NYC like you have never seen before!

This old railroad was used by frieght trains for many years. In 2009 a group decided to start this ambitious project. In October, 2014, the final section was opened. The route is 1,45 miles of winding walkway with lots of beautiful plants and tree. When we did the walk the route was packed. It was a nice sunny day, we'll do this again in the future. www.thehighline.org

This was one of my favority adventure in New York this year it was and incredible walk trow gardens and magnifects view. Walking the 1.45 miles long takes me around one hour. The arquitecture and organization that me that possible was excelent. The High Line Park uses the disused southern portion of the West Side Line running to the Lower West Side of Manhattan. It runs from Gansevoort Street – three blocks below 14th Street – in the Meatpacking District, through Chelsea, to the northern edge of the West Side Yard on 34th Street near the Javits Convention Center. An unopened spur extends above 30th Street to Tenth Avenue. Formerly, the High Line went as far south as a railroad terminal to Spring Street just north of Canal Street, but the lower section was demolished in 1960.There is a part under contruction it's suppose to be completed in 2015 i hope to be here to see the extencion because that one have the river view ended. I recomended to everybody in new york get there. Hope to help you!

My daughter and I took a tour with free walking tours to get some history on the highline. We had walked it before but the tour was very interesting and we heard some information we would not have known. it was a warm beautiful night and we enjoyed the views.

If you love the history and scenic view and the gardens and the outdoor eating and chilling then this is your place.I went there on a hot summer days in the end of June, everything was pretty but nothing much to do except keep walking along the way along with loads of tourist and locals trying to soaking in the sun. They have a nice little food area which have a lot of choice, from ice cream sandwich to kebab and stuff.

I had a very enjoyable stroll on this elevated former rail track. The garden areas feature indigenous plants. Lots of people were out on a recent Saturday afternoon and it was a pleasant atmosphere. Some of the views of the city from the High Line were remarkable. It felt good to get away from the hustle and bustle of the streets below for a few minutes. There are benches and "amphitheater" style places to sit and relax and take in the views. I'm glad I walked the High Line.

Nice walk, but incredibly crowded. Sometime you can see only guys in front of you. Zero chance to buy some refreshment without a long long line.

    - A nice walk along the elevated former train tracks. - A pretty green space. - Gives a very unique view/perspective on the city. - Lots of spots to sit and relax. Cons- Lots of buildings are under construction along the path so you get a lot of construction sounds. - Can be a little busy with people on a Saturday afternoon. Tips- Get a Popsicle from the cart seller. They have a great variety of interesting flavours. Passion fruit, mango-chili and more - Go early- In the distance from some spots you can see the Statue of Liberty.

Great place to spend the afternoon and watch the sunset. It mixes the green and urban and also you can see a famous street art from Kobra. I love that place!

If in the lower west side /meatpacker district of New York go for a stroll along this mile long park raised abover the city streets. A calming, gentle and inspiring elevated park. What a cool idea and a truly inspiring concept. the park has refreshments, gentle sounds of buskers and is a lovely stroll through New York but feels like nothing else-- well worth and hour of your time. You will not find anything like this anywhere on earth --that's how original this is !

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Walk the elevated walking trail that covers at least several blocks of the Meat Packing District. It provides a unique view of the buildings in that area. And, the flowers and greenery on the walking trail itself is quite lovely.
