This was a stop during our boat tour. It is small, but great for photos. The lighthouse maybe difficult for some to climb up the very narrow stairs.

This is a great small park to visit. You can take a boat tour from Clayton or visit with your rental or personal water craft/boat. There are picnic tables, so you can bring a meal and picnic with the kids. Lots of rocks to climb and the best part you can now visit the lighthouse keepers home and climb to the top of the lighthouse for one of the best views on the river. Be sure to bring your camera to the top of the lighthouse and wear good shoes for climbing rocks and steps.

Not owning a boat we accessed the lighthouse via Clayton 2 hr boat tour. The tour guide offered loads of interesting information and nautical facts to and from the island. The TI area is spectacular every season of the year. Lighthouse recently renovated and opened..very clean no frills just right!! We loved it!! Will return in Autumn

Out boating on St. Lawrence and stopped into Rock Island Light House and was very pleased. Great bathroom facilities, nice picnic area, wonderful job done by parks on restoration of light and keepers house. Small fee to go up into light.Docks are excellent but tricky to approach from mainland side due to very strong current. Use channel side slips for much easier approach.

Took two of our grandkids there and what a treat- the staff was so friendly and helpful. The park is so clean and modern. The dock was so easy to dock our boat and the rest rooms were quite a surprise. The view from the top of the lighthouse was priceless. We highly recommend this as a must see attraction in the 1000 islands.

This tiny island was a relaxing stop on our boat tour. We were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse and take fantastic photographs of the Thousand Islands. The grounds were kept beautifully.

Was excited to find out that you can climb up to the top of the light house for a birds eye view. The gift shop was average and the staff was helpful.

The lighthouse is now open and you can climb up for a great view of the river. Small gift shop attached in the old lightkeepers cottage. Cottage upstairs is outfitted to be used for bridal parties getting ready for a wedding. Lots of pictures and history to read. Great place to sit and watch the ships. Need to have your own boat or take a ride from the boats in Clayton

Just finished a lighthouse challenge of lighthouses on Lake Ontario in Central New York. This lighthouse was the last one we climbed and it was the most enjoyable. First of all you take a narrated boat ride around the 1000 Islands which was very enjoyable. Once you are at the lighthouse which is on a small island you are free to climb up the tower which gives you a 360 degree view and any view includes water since you are out in the middle of the river. The island is well kept and has a small gift shop. The whole trip takes 2 hours and is a very nice way to spend an afternoon in the area. It was a bonus that the weather was perfect!

At the risk of exposing my age, I can honestly say I used to hang around this place when I was a kid when the lighthouse was still a working lighthouse. I used to fish off the dock but usually caught only small perch. In case anyone should think I was trespassing, I always went with the USCG light house keeper who lived on the mainland in those days, not in the house on the island. Getting there from H. Chalk's in Fisher's Landing where the USCG moored their small boat took only 5 minutes or so. It was an enchanting place then but is even more so now that the island and its buildings have been spruced up and turned into a state park. Certainly worth a visit while you're in the 1000 Islands.

Outstanding local attraction. Plenty of free docking for private boats and clean restrooms. Very nice shop and the lighthouse offers incredible views of the St. Lawrence. The day we visited the young man that gave us our tour of the lighthouse was very knowledgeable of the region and history of the lighthouse. I would recommend this to all who visit the region.

NY State park system just renovated this site. It is accessible by boat. The keepers house and lighthouse are open. Sitting right on the American channel, the lighthouse views can be fantastic with tankers, freighters, tour boats, and even some yachts passing. There are picnic tables available for a shore lunch.

This is one of the things that the state of New York did right. They made it a state park, and actually put money into it by adding a lot of upgrades. There is a brand new dock, a gift shop, bathrooms, and picnic tables. It is a great place for a picnic, if you have a boat. There is a good view of the Thousand Island bridge, and a good place to view the freighters going by.

Took a nice boat trip out of Clayton Harbor to Rock Island. Pleasant, informative trip and beautiful lighthouse. Good view from the top.
