Have been going to Merritt for quite a few years to buy Chautauqua Niagara, my favorite. I have tried some of their other wines and they are all good. Their staff is always very helpful. The lady that helped me on March 1 2015 was really good and helped me pick some wines I had not tried before. I am a big fan of their wine and will be back. They give nice discounts on so many bottles and free wine if you buy a case.

3rd visit to Merritt Estate Winery last weekend as the starting point for a wine trail event weekend. The staff here is great, extremely welcoming and sincere, they really make the effort to make your visit seem liike spending some time with good friends. A nice selection of wines, something for pretty much everyone whatever type of wine you enjoy. We travel from central NY, and usually visit the Finger Lakes wineries, but Merritt is at the top of the list for making the trip out to the Lake Erie wineries.

I am usually horribly disappointed in full bodied dry reds from Western NY where they come out watery and weak. This was the one exception. Great cozy tasting room and great ports!

It takes a bit to find, but if you like sweet wines, Merritt Estate Winery has merit as a stop on your journey through far Western New York. Merritt is a long-established producer of Rieslings, usually styled on the sweeter side, along with very sweet dessert wines, and a few seasonal specialties like spiced wine, intended to be served hot in the winter. We enjoyed the stop. It's worth an excursion off the NYS Thruway for those with a sweet tooth.

We love Merritt. Their wine is excellent and their Sangria wine slush is a favorite at parties. It is a beautiful location as well. You won't be disappointed!

On a recent ladies weekend we stopped by some local wineries! We found Merritt to be off the beaten path but well worth the trip! The wines where great. The gift shop offered a large variety of items to look at. We all enjoy a little shopping while wine tasting! I recommend this winery!

Went to the Strawberry Festival. Wonderful wines and great music. We we definitely be back. The XTC is the best!

This winery had the strawberry festival and another festival in the fall. They have great entertainment, vendors, wines, studies, antique car show and a sport celebrity of some kind. You should really make an effort to go to one of the festivals you will have a great time.

The Merritt Estate Winery was a bit intimidating when we pulled in the driveway. Everyone was busy harvesting the grapes and there was a lot of hustle and bustle. However, once we entered, we were greeted and by an informative and courteous lady (can't remember her name). She asked us some questions and helped us determine the best wines for our taste. The wine was reasonably priced and the sangria was outstanding.

The Merritt Estate Winery in Forestville has been around for many years. Entering the tasting room is a comfortable experience. Jason and the staff are happy to answer questions. There is nothing "wine snob" about this crowd. They want you to find something that tastes good to you. It's nestled in the family vineyards on a beautiful rolling slope. Cute items in the gift shop too. What a fun way to spend an afternoon.

I read someone reviewed the place who had big concerns about service and courtesy. We have not encountered that, but neither was the service warm and welcoming. All around this County and beyond, people were just bubbly and proud of their place, and so eager to welcome the visitors.I also did not understand why they made the crowd taste wine in the store (which we have been OK), but they had a decent tasting room at the back which would have been better! We ended up buying a bare minimum of things. When I inquired about the tour, they told us they do it normally, but they were just doing something at the moment so it's not available. Attractions like them should be conscious that tourists are coming and have itineraries they follow. On 2nd thought, it might have been a good idea to have called and asked. But that aside, they graciously allowed us through the vineyards and went around there. It was a nice quiet place. The grapes were still young when we went.Their Chautauqua wines are good!Without the tour, it felt a little lacking but then, overall good enough with the self-guided visit to the vineyard.

I started drinking the Merritt wines at the NY State fair a few years ago, and since then have purchased the Bella Rosa, The Bella Ice wine, XTC, Sangria and a couple others. They are delicious. I have had the pleasure of going to the winery twice this year and each time have had a very enjoyable experience. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and can be a little heavy on the pour when giving you your tasting (not a bad thing). Also they do not charge for the tastings which is a nice surprise.

Stronger on whites, full selection from dry reds through sweet dessert wines. No fee for limited tasting, but you'll want to purchase at least the winemakers' blend (a crowd pleasing, fruit forward red). Adorable dog (Italian mastiff) welcomes guests in parking lot. Accepts a friendly pat on the head if you are that kind of dog-friendly.

I have aattended many events at the winery. They have a great strawberry festival in June. They always have one of the athletes from the professional teams. I had my picture taken with many of them from the Bills to the Sabres! Ryan Miller was one of great athletes to attend. In the fall Merritts have the Septemberfest and it is just as nice. Great fun for the whole family!

If you like wine coolers, this winery has two great wines to make a cooler great. Try the Sangria or the Bella Rosa, which is one of their best sellers. Also, I learned that they will ship items for a small fee, and certain times of year, usually before the Xmas season, the shipping is free. The more bottles you buy, the greater the discount. They have a small gift shop in the winery also, which has some nice things, but a bit overpriced. Whenever I am in the area, I stop there to get the wine for my summertime wine coolers. This wine is locally sold in the liquor stores, so if you cant get to the winery, it is conveniently carried there. They have several events throughout the summer which i have never attended but i know that they get a good crowd. There is generally music, food, cars, etc...
