The Durango Soaring Club ceased operations last Fall. It was a successful business for 25 years, but they decided that was enough. Don't plan on soaring on your next Durango visit, but please visit anyway.

I have 46 years and 14,000+ hours of flying time but when I drove by the Durango Soaring Club and saw that beautiful German Sail Plane, I felt like my first trip to the airport when I was a kid! My instructor flew the same type of Jet aircraft that I did so we hit it off and in no time, I was flying the figure 8's in front of the mountain ridge that was giving us lift. Very different to be able to carry on a conversation at a normal level with the only noise being the light whispering of the wind past the cockpit. Hope to do it again next time I fly into Telluride!

Awesome sights and cool weather mornings made for a smooth ride. Loved every minute! It went by so fast ( I think it was a 20-25 minute ride) it seemed we were landing right away. Very courteous and professional pilots and staff, highly recommended!

This was another bucket list item we two young folks(pushing 70) looked forward to. We'd tried before but weather or some other obstacle came up. We called DSC for a reservation. The lady could not have been nicer. She offered advice on the best hours for a full ride then booked us The pilots were gracious and provided a complete narrative about the landscape, terrain markers and gliding. It w as a blast. We'll do it againonce we've had enough free fall parachute jumps. Additional comment-clean bathroom!

My husband and 6 year old son went on this trip. They had an amazing time. Observers can take pics from the ground or a platform above one of the buildings. The people were extremely warm and friendly, genuinely glad to have your business. I saw their glider go high above the mountains. My family had a fantastic time and we highly recommend this company.

I saw the sign from the road and pulled in for the off chance of my first ever experience of gliding. I asked for the longest time in the air and it was worth it. The staff were some of the friendliest people i met in America. The pilot was brilliant. The views were incredible. A truly great way to see some of the best scenery in america. Worth every penny.

Both my wife and I have wanted to try gliding, and this was a great place to try it. We stopped by without reservations and got right in! We were able to both be in the air at the same time and take pictures of each other while in the air. It was AMAZING! My pilot offered a little more "exciting" ride which was tremendous if you don't mind motion sickness. Everyone was friendly and inviting, it felt like you knew them forever. A great experience. We highly recommend it to anyone. We've had many experiences/adventures in life and this was one of the highlights. Do it!

I had always wanted to experience a glider ride and what a beautiful place like Durango to give it a try. Called and scheduled a time. Upon arrival I signed in and immediately was taken to the glider. I was made to feel very comfortable and they were great about answering any questions I had. The pilot had over 30 years experience and visited with me during the entire flight. The views from the air were fabulous. I highly recommend the Durango Soaring Club if you have ever wanted take a glider ride.

I decided to try my first glider ride here last summer. I took the 20 minute ride in the late morning when the thermals were moderate which, for me, was a perfect time to go. As a precaution, I took a motion-sickness pill before I went and I think it helped because there is some sudden ups & downs. Very scenic and very nice. It didn't seem risky at all - very safe.

My 8 year old daughter went on a 20 minute (closer to 40 minutes) glider ride. She enjoyed it and would like to go back next time we are in Durango.

My girlfriend and I were looking for something fun and unique (to us) to do in Durango and we came across reviews for Durango Soaring Club. We each took a 20 minute flight. I didn't expect to get to pilot the glider, but we both got to fly the glider for about 5 or 10 minutes each. The staff was friendly, the flying was fun and exciting and the views of SW Colorado were incredible. We are very glad we got to go soaring in Durango!

Took my 8 year old daughter in the glider for a 20 minute glide. The pilot flew us over our rental house, did loopty loops at our request. If I were to do it again, I'd pay more for a longer flight so you could see more of the area. We had a wonderful time and my daughter is still talking about it.

This was a highlight of our trip to Durango. The glider is two seater, dual control plane with you sitting up front and the pilot sitting behind you. The views are beautiful and gives you a whole new perspective of the area. I bought the shortest ride, about 20 minutes. This is plenty of time in the air for a novice. For me this event was well worth the price.

I road in the glider twice, one was a couch ride, and one that was an acrobatic ride like a roller coaster! Truly a blast of you don't get motion sickness. And if you do just do the couch ride.
