The Lakewood Heritage Center is a shiny new building that celebrates the 20th century. The interior while open and spacious only contains two rooms of exhibits, one changing and one that is focused on the development of Lakewood and the park that the Center is located in. Effort is given to make the exhibits kid friendly. There is always something to touch or try on or play with. The gift shop in the Center is really a treat with old fashioned twentieth century treats- Etchasketches and old cruiser bikes compete with fun cards and martini glasses. There are old machines and classic buildings to view outdoors. The Center is located in a very nice park with ample walking and bird watching opportunities. Some folks might skate, bike, or run instead. The Center is free unless you choose to pay for a guided tour.

This place rocks!!! They have some of the actual buildings that were part of the beginnings of Lakewood. That is a school building, a home of one of the pioneers of Lakewood, a cattle auction buiding, and a lot more. Learn a little history through a first hand point of view while enjoying the magnificent grounds!!!

I have enjoyed going with friends to the out door music programs the last several years. The are on Wednesday nights on the lawn and are in expensive entertainment. You can bring a picnic to enjoy. They prohibit bringing alcohol but have beer and wine for sale.

This is where my husband proposed (on the bridge) but all of Belmar Park is wonderful to visit. If you go during Cider Days, you won't be sorry but just a walk around the lake is very relaxing and to see the wildlife in the lake is wonderful.

A variety of experiences from Concerts in the Park to Apple Cider Days. Truly enjoy going and watching the tractor pulls and watching the kiddies make apple juice for their cider. The heritage center has some really great displays and change frequently enough to keep you interested.

This heritage center is more than a museum, and a stage. It has actual period buildings with actual equipment and vehicles in an actual depiction of how life once was in the area. Much of it is outdoors, hands on, and very informative. It is also easily located right off a main road, inexpensive, and near a variety of shopping and restaurants. It is a must see for anyone visiting the area, and interested in its history.

This is a great cultural center with exceptionally well-done plays. We have enjoyed seeing many great musicals here.

This park has a great location near my new condo at Belmar, i.e., it is within walking distance and more important, you can avoid Wadsworth heavy traffic by accessing the underground tunnel below the roadway. This leads to the park. The park itself has a museum and historical buildings from Denver and Lakewood's past, with a few Art Deco type buildings that have been restored. The museum is free, with a suggested donation. I found it to be outstanding and it only takes about 45 minutes to tour the entire building. The open space park hike is approximately a couple of miles in length. You will pass streams and lakes, as well as the concert area and library. Occasionally, you will see horses being ridden here as well. Not too far from this park is the civic center, where you can participate in classes and also view community theater. The police department is also located near hear. This is an excellent place to take the family, go running, walk, read a book, have a picnic, view a concert, or just relax and feed the ducks. I would strongly recommend this park.

I took my two sons (12 & 10) to a concert here. It is a very nice facility. There is free ample parking, you can bring in chairs, and a cooler. They also have food trucks there selling various foods. the prices are reasonable and it is a nice evening out under the stars.

The Heritage Center is a great place to take friends and family. If you are from Colorado this is a wonderful place to get a sense of history and the progress that Lakewood has gone through over the years.

This is a multi-use park that people can go to many times a day. Take a walk or your dog around the miles of pathways surrounding the lakes. You're sure to see all sorts of birds, people, horses and other wild life, and the un-expected at any given time. The Heritage center itself is an offereing of nostalgia from the trun of the century through the 70's. There is an out door ampi theatre where you can see everything from concerts, to movie screenings, to weddings. The park is near Belmar shopping center, Library, and the Alameda and Wadsworth intersection. There is a well preserved neighborhood within the park that displays the different types of architecture and lifestyles of Lakewood over the years.

Charming resource in Lakewood. Great views. Excellent place to walk. Nice location for festivals but their concert events seem a bit overpriced.
