elk mountain ranch

This is such a lovely place, mountains, aspen forests, open meadows, fabulous wildlife.... but it's not just the amazing scenery that makes this place special, its way Tom, Sue, their family and the wranglers are so friendly and share their love of the horses and the ranch. It means you come away really feeling as though you've been part of it. The horses are gentle but willing, the rides change each day and we could ride together as a family. There are lots of fun things to do but also time to relax, and just enjoy. Most magical moment... cantering up a gentle slope, into a huge meadow with mountain vistas opening up before us. This was my dream week, but at the end, all the family agreed this was the best part of our American adventure.

Truly, the best part of my vacation at Elk Mountain were the people I met! Owners Tom and Sue, the wranglers and staff, and especially the other guests. Oh, the horses were wonderful, too! (I'd have taken Remy home with me, if that were possible.) It's obvious that Tom and Sue are passionate about their ranch and making sure their guests have the best ranch experience possible. Needless to say, the scenery is gorgeous, and the changing vistas while trail riding are spectacular. Everyone's riding ability was accommodated, including the opportunity for individualized trail rides. I went during one of their adult-only weeks.

Elk Mountain Ranch provided us with an unforgettable experience! We chose an adult only week to visit this ranch. The scenery is breathtaking and the staff couldn't be any more friendly and accommodating. Great horses, beautiful trails, evening entertainment.... we loved every minute of our stay there. I know we'll be going back!

I have never been to a Dude Ranch and it is something I wanted to do most of my adult life. This was a Christmas gift from my husband. It exceeded all my expectations! Great place, great people, great horses and great scenery! Highly recommended!

EMR has gone over and beyond to make our family vacation a memorable one. Wonderful food, service, and variety of experiences to accommodate all of us. The staff is superb with attention to detail in every activity. We felt right at home in our cabin for the week. We enjoyed the horseback riding and the awesome views of the mountains in every direction. We had a blast white water rafting on the Arkansas River. Each meal was of abundance and tasted very good. Hope to come back next year! Thanks for the best outdoor adventure for our family.

This was a 'bucket list' vacation. I couldn't have picked a better place to go! The staff was so friendly. It was like leaving family when we left. Everything is so well run. The horses were matched to everyone's ability. The other activities were a lot of fun. I went with 3 other ladies all over 55. We had a ball!! There were families with small children and everyone had a great time. The food was excellent and very plentiful!! Loved the bottomless cookie jar with homemade cookies! I have recommended this to anyone who would like to visit a guest ranch. Oh, and the views were breathtaking!!
