We like this casino, and prefer it to some of the larger casinos in Blackhawk! We think the drink servers are especially attentive, and the drinks are not watered down!! For the price, the buffet is EXCELLENT! We like the lunch/brunch offerings, but sometimes have the dinner buffet because they include crab legs!! The servers in the buffet are extremely nice and helpful!!

The casino is large, clean, lots of new slots. They give promotion money if you play a lot. Ordered a drink and it was made well. Hard to find staff if you have a problem with your machine. They have a very good buffet, 1/2 price for seniors on Monday and Tuesday.

It is an okay casino layout rather sloppy...not as nice as should be..service terribly slow. Not really many people gambling as nothing was paying off.

the layout is terrible. didn't see anyone winning. not an upbeat atmosphere. no waitress came by in the hour I was there. won't go back.

One of the better buffets in Black Hawk. A decent wait time to get in but the staff doesn't make you feel rushed once seated. Nice selection of food.

All staff was great, nice and friendly. Didn't smell cigarette smoke at all . This casino and hotel looks and smells new.

We ate dinner at White Buffalo Grill, there is no place to review the restaurant so I am doing it here.My husband had the Lamb which was very good. I had the shrimp and crab special which was just ok. Service was nice. Good wine list. The casino itself isn't as nice as Ameristar.

Don't know why there's no separate listing for this restaurant, so am adding it under the casino listing (instead of hotel listing). Eat here! We decided not to wait in the endless buffet line, and we were amply rewarded. Quite the 5 star restaurant for a casino. Really a great find for anywhere in the metro area. Top-notch food at reasonable prices; you get a lot for what you pay for. We had prime rib and French onion soup, great bread, superior shrimp alla vodka, ample portions, great wine list. Very attentive service. Lovely dining room w/views on all sides. Our second time here and it was again a winner. Impressed our out-of-town relatives. A gem! (Form made me choose family w/teens or young children; we had neither actually, but was just family). Reservations recommended.

Visited this property in late August, 2014. Slots: AAAAAA+ - There are plenty of new and vintage slot machines to play. I have never played in a venue where the slots have been looser than they were in this Casino. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. After leaving a considerable bankroll at the Ameristar the night before, I couldn't get the machines at the Lodge to take my money for quite a while. Of course as any casino player knows time is the enemy and I gave it all back eventually, but I milked $500.00 for almost ten hours at their casino. I haven't had that kind of play time in 20 years. I enjoyed the hell out of that place!Drink Service: A+++++ - Visited for about ten hours from 10:00AM - 6:00PM on a Saturday and was approached at least 3 times an hour whether I was on a machine or at a table, Table Games: A++++ - Played blackjack and was delighted to see the table limits have been raised from $5.00 max to $100.00 max in Black Hawk. They have a few cool side bets (Bonus 21 and Dealer Bust) that made the game twice as fun as it normally is. The local players all knew how to play the game and I had a great time with them. Very friendly group that day! The dealers were all awesome and the pit bosses were personable. Player's Club: I received a free buffet for accumulating (I forget how many points but it wasn't many) points. I also received a $10.00 cash bonus for racking up a very small number of points as well. I will see how the mailers pan out. We did not stay at the hotel or eat at the restaurants so I have no idea how they are. The only complaint I had is I did not realize the Player's Club desk doubles as the Cashier Center to. I walked the floor (up and down) twice looking for the cage and finally asked someone where it was. Please note it is the Player's Club. I rarely give a Casino a five star rating but this is one of the coolest places I have ever had the pleasure of playing at, and I have played at thousands! When we return to BlackHawk I will definitely be looking a host up to see about spending my time at this gem!

This is a nice smallish hotel/casino next to the Ameristar with about 50 rooms. I didn't stay there but I heard someome say all their rooms were suites. They have a good selection of games and the only Pai Gow table in town. The dealers are friendly and they have a rotational system each with their own tip box. They have a $5 craps table with 10x odds which is good.Their buffets are very reasonable and good.

My husband and I stayed at the Lodge and played slots. Which we love. I won a couple small jack pots, enough to keep me playing. And I like that. Gotta give a little! And The Lodge did. Casino was clean, staff awesome. Had a blast playing here. A lot of new slot games. Had FUN!!! We will be back!!!

The people, the location and the Mountains are great! We love the energy, the pace, the feeling of family. We stay in the hotel, gamble at the casino, eat at the restaurants and enjoy the friendly staff.

We use to think The Lodge buffet was the best in Blackhawk or Central City, but now I'd have to give the title of best buffet to the Ameristar. We've ate at buffet at the Lodge a few times in the past couple of months. They are serving less chicken and fewer beef items and more pork and shellfish items although sometimes you can get a piece of fried cod (or at least think that is what the fish is). The problem is The Lodge has so much business the kitchen can't keep up with it. However the waiters/waitresses and busboys/girls are still some of the best service attendants in Blackhawk and Central City. They are always on top of keeping your drinks filled and taking finished eaten off of dishes removed from the table. The main reason I have lowered the Lodge’s rating is because of cleanliness and safety. I was getting salad and when an item would fall off the utensil (I was using to stock my plate) and onto the line the line person would just pick it up and put it back into the container. Also the containers holding the vinegar & oil had not been wiped down and you get your hands oily by handling them. Every time we have visited the Lodge Buffet the oil and vinegar containers are never clean and wiped down. Also the people working behind the line and the salad bar are not so friendly anymore. The meals are about $18.50 a person and I don't feel we’re getting our money's worth there, especially when you can go right next door to the Ameristar and not have to wait in a long line to get in and have a cleaner atmosphere with a better selection of food for less money and the people are super friendly and hospitable at the Ameristar. Also The Lodge's slot machines and video poker are some of the tightest in Blackhawk and Central City and there are a group of Russian speaking people that go there that are very rude. We were there one night playing the slots when a Russian speaking person wanted to play a slot an older lady was playing. The older lady wouldn't get up and move because a Russian woman wanted to play that slot. Finally the Russian speaking woman insulted the elderly lady and pushed up against her. About that time the elderly lady's daughter stood up and said, "You don't talk to my mother like that." Everybody was watching what was going on. The staff of the Lodge came to stop the pending fight. There were several people that told the Lodge Staff that the older lady was in the right, but the Lodge took the side of the Russians (probably because the Russians gamble there much of the time) and wouldn’t let the elderly lady continue gambling. So we will probably not eat or spend the night at the Lodge anymore since we don't feel safe there and the food is only mediocre.

This is a nice casino. The layout of the slot machines is a little confusing compared to other casinos I have been in. You will walk quite a bit to find your slot for the value you want to spend. Atmosphere is okay but I did not find it anything too special.

This review is for the Season's Buffet at the casino. It was getting late on a Sunday night. I suppose I have spent to much time at casinos in Vegas, because I did not think all the dining options in Blackhawk to be pretty much over by 10pm. I have Celiac Disease and have to be very selective as to what and where I dine when not at home. First off, I need an establishment that understands that it is not just a mere allergy, but a life threatening disease and the actions of kitchen staff must treat preparation as such.I asked the cashier if they had an Allergy Book/menu as most restaurants now days do. She said, no and asked why I needed it. So she called the Chef and told him I have CD and asked him to come out. Generally, I know what I can and can not eat, yet sometimes there is an issues as simple as does the spices have wheat in it. Before we reached a table, the Chef was there to meet me.THE CHEF WALKED ME THROUGH THE BUFFET, EXPLAINING PREPARATION AND INGREDIENTS OF ANY DISH IN QUESTION. That is CUSTOMER SERVICE! Of course my selection was limited, but satisfying. I did not get his name, but I thank him for his care and concern. I also thank the cashier. She took my inquiry seriously and had excellent follow through. As for the foods I could eat... they were fair, but filling. I wish places would include labeling as to the health issue ingredients included in items. That would have made it even better.
