This beautiful waterfall can be seen along the road from the Sugarlands Visitor Center to Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee. You don't even have to get out of your car to enjoy it, but you will want to.

As you are driving Little river road, make sure you are paying attention as you could drive by this roadside beauty. There is plenty of parking right in front of this waterfall, just be careful pulling back out in traffic. No hiking necessary so its good for all ages.

The falls are easy to see, but also easy to miss. They are right off the road and of you have a good camera you can take pics from there. Don't Blink while you drive Little River Road or you'll miss it.

Meigs Falls is just a little ways past the sinks on the left hand side of the road as you are heading towards Cades Cove. There is ample space to pull over and view the falls from the road so this probably the easiest waterfall for you to view in the Smokies.

We had to pick a date from the drop down list and none of them were even close to when we visited. So ignore the date listed. I believe this visit was in August of 2010. We decided we really really wanted to see Meigs Falls up close. My husband and I were 58 and 59 at the time and our daughter who did this with us was about 30. It looked simple enough - climb down the bank just west of the pull-off and cross the river, then follow the stream back to the falls. It's farther than it looks when you're 58. Crossing the river was probably when we were in the most danger. The water was FAST and we weren't really expecting it. I got knocked down about halfway across and, because the rocks were so slippery, I really had trouble getting up. Finally, my husband reached out to me with his hiking stick, I grabbed the end and he literally dragged me the rest of the way across the river. My daughter got some pretty good embarrassing pictures. Then we walked in the smaller stream until we reached the falls. The rocks were slippery in that stream too and there was one part where I fell again and was on a slope of very slippery rock that jutted up (under the water) against another slope - kind of like two layers of rock had become separated and were sticking up parallel to one another. I was crazy - I could have gotten my feet stuck in the intersection of those two slabs. I had to slide across on my behind until I had better footing. Reading afterwards about what lives in the streams has made me know how nuts we were just sticking our hands and feet around and under submerged rocks. The falls were awesome and we all three went all the way up to them so we could get our pictures - couldn't do all that and not document it!!!! We look back on it as stupid, foolish, dangerous and never to be repeated - - - but we're really glad we did it!!! Since, you know, we didn't die. ON the way back I once again had trouble crossing the river and some guys on the pull-off who were watching us asked if we needed help. One was a marine and said he really could come down and get me if I needed him to. It was so kind of him - but by that point I was stubbornly determined to finish this thing without being rescued. Yes - we were nuts. Don't do it!!!!

Meigs Falls is located just past The Sinks if you're traveling Little River Road from Gatlinburg toward Townsend/Cades Cove (the pull-off will be on your left). You can get wonderful pictures from the parking area, especially with use of a tripod. I do not recommend trying to climb down the wall and wade across the river to walk up to the falls. The vegetation (especially in the summertime) is thick on the other side of the river, and the rocks are very slick.

The falls are pretty and cool, but the only way to access it up close is walking a 3 mile trail from the sinks. If you don't hike, you can only see them from a pull off on the road. Very cool overall!

This falls is on Little River Rd if you are coming from Townsend it is 4.7 miles down Little River Rd there is a large pull off area. It is located allmost in the middle of the pull off. You can cross Little River and walk right up to the falls . Which I did if you try this PLEASE be carefull the rocks in the river were very slippery current was very fast slipped coming back across and strained my hamstring cost me a hike to Abrams falls had to take a day off to rest it. Well worth a stop very nice falls beautiful road and very close to Laurel Falls.

Having already hiked to Cataract Falls and stopped by The Sinks, Meigs was third on the list of waterfalls close by. Almost missed it. Slowed down and barely got a parking spot on the side of the road.Because it was across a river, it's hard to get up close. But it's free, no hiking and not much is blocking it.

Nice waterfall that can be viewed from a pullout on River Road about half way between the Townsend cutoff and Metcalf Bottoms picnic area. Most people drive right past this without ever knowing it is there. It will be on the left if coming from Gatlinburg or the right coming from Townsend. It's a great stop to stretch your legs and take some pictures.

I don't think the prior review is talking about the correct falls. Meigs is just off River Road about half way between Gatlinburg and Townsend. There is a large pull off right in front of the falls. You are standing about 300 feet from the falls at the pull off. You would have to climb down to the river and wade through the river and the run from the falls or alongside on the rocks to get to the falls itself. They aren't terribly impressive but they are visible right from the road. Coordinates: N35 40.162 W83 40.563.
