Great small distillery tour led by knowledgeable guides! Opted for the extended tour as it included the whisky (no "e" on purpose) taste room and video room. Loved the small company feel, the traditions kept even after George fell off that horse, and amazed they're logging some data by hand in 2015! There are some stairs to climb so it''s not accessible for those with accessibility issues. It's a bit off the beaten path but worth every mile driven to take the tour. Oh yeah, the whisky is darned good, too!

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant and very humorous. I would advise taking this tour. Little difficult to find...but look for the signs. GPS sometimes iffy.

I found the George Dickel distillery tour to be fun, educational and tasty ! Once I wound my way back to the hollow , I found the cosy general store and post office. I met the nice people inside and learned there are two tours - regular and extended . The extended includes a taste of four types of whisky. That's the one i took and it cost 10 bucks. My guide was friendly knowledgable and lots of fun.

We went decided to stop here before traveling onto the Jack Daniels Distillery. I was so glad we did this first. We stopped in there two days after Christmas on a Saturday and they were not in production but were opened for tours. The tour guide was so kind and was more than welcoming to take us on the tour. she explained everything to us and I learned so much about how the Whiskey was made. She was an excellent tour guide - one of the best I have heard. Our group was small - so that made it nice. I was glad they were not in production, because if they were it would have been loud and would have not been able to hear the tour guide as well - we learned that at the Jack Daniels tour (the machines were loud and we missed alot). I was so interested I learned so much. I did buy a bottle at the end (and I really don't like whiskey that well - but excited about trying there's). There gift shop and grounds are so beautiful there and great picture opportunity. Loved this place - it was fun and would recommend going there. It is off the beaten path - so use GPS to get there.

We love the whisky and were driving past so had to stop. It was a blast. Great free tour. Very educational. Terrific gift shop. Tasting bar. Highly recommended.

We went during the week, and were the only two people on the tour, so our guide was able to answer questions and visit more than with a larger group. The tour was nice, their facilities were really interesting. Definitely a smaller distillery, but it's clear they take pride in what they do.

I am not a whisky drinking but this was an informative tour that in the end we had 4 tastings and they were good. The tour guide knew her stuff.. she answered alot of questions from our group. The store was nice had some things that would be great gifts. The shots you get at the end.. more than make up for the 10.00 tour cost

If you are in Normandy be sure to check out George Dickel Distillery. It is a free tour and it is very informative. Its a dry tour you have to pay for a sample.

Visited on a Tuesday in November. I went on the complementary tour. Our tour group included three visitors andone tour guide. The tour was great, as our guide was very knowledgeable. She knew just what to highlight about Dickels process. The tour involved walking about 20 minutes total, and going up and down at least 2 flights of stairs. Since Diageo bought them, almost all bottling is done off site, which was a let down. After the free tour, you can do a tasting for $11 which includes samples of each product that is made. The staff was again well informed and happy to answer questions about the process and differences between variety of spirits. Bottles are avaliable for purchase, but they did not have any that were only avaliable at the distillery. That was a let down. I wanted to buy a unique bottle. Overall, it was a good experience, and i would happily return!

A lovely drive to this beautiful setting made the hour trip well worth it. The place has a lot of charm and it is quite small. It was wonderful to hear all the history and our tour guide John was personable and able to answer all of our questions. The process involved in making this whisky was fascinating and wonderful to note that this is a small hands on, non automated process. Things are still done as they were when Mr. Dickel started the company all those years ago. This is a must see stop for anyone interested in alcohol, history or small business. The tasting at the end of the tour topped off the whole experience. The tour is free the tasting was just a small fee.

While we didn't take a tour here, we did stop in and do a tasting. We were able to try generous samples of 4 products, which really helped us decide what we like and wanted to purchase. Barrel Select is our favorite, but we never would have known had we not been able to try it. Everyone was friendly, and the grounds are nice.

If you like educational tours of factories & distilleries this is a great stop. It is a small operation with 29 employees working in the distillery and they do everything by hand, no computers, the guides are very knowledgeable about the process and you get an idea of how much care they take in the process. You can get samples of the whisky and you can also buy bottles there of their different kinds as well as other souvenirs. The area surrounding the distillery is beautiful to walk around. A definite stop if you have a couple of hours to spend! One extra bit of info....go into their bathroom you have to see their décor...

Enjoyed touring the distillery. Our tour guide John was very knowledgeable of the running of the George Dickel distillery. Their store has many souvenirs to choose from. Highly recommend.

This was my second tour of the distillery. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to sample their whisky. The tour is informative and shows the hand crafted way of making whisky the hard way.The Barrel select is a smooth sipping whisky.

This small distillery is still like a family run business. The tour is in depth and intimate. For a real look at how things were done in the old days, before big corporations took over the distillery business, the Dickell distillery is the place to check out. Also, my family, who lives in the area, recommended the Dickell whiskey above the other distillery in the area, Jack Daniels. Recommend you visit both, but don't miss this one.
