I live on Douglas Lake and love it. It's great for boating, fishing swimming, parasailing etc. It's also close enough to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for day trips to any of the activities taking place there. I moved here from the North, on my own with no family, after visiting the area for several years. I never get tired of the sunsets, sunrises, mountains, food, shops and outlet centers. People are friendly and the resort stores are quaint with outlets there as another choice. It's close enough to Knoxville to do things there also. The weather is much better than the north, and judging by the visitors from the south, probably a little better than the heat in the summer in the south. I cannot answer the other questions because I have lived here for 10 years and have been to the shows and other attractions.

My fiance and I moved to Dandridge in August, as the proud homeowners of a house on Douglas Lake's main channel. I can say with all honesty that Douglas Lake is what convinced us to buy waterfront property in eastern Tennessee. This lake, while man-made, is just gorgeous! It's a huge lake, with all sorts of coves and interesting places to explore and swim. There's great fishing, not a day goes by without a bass boat. There's plenty of public launches, marinas to fuel up at and grab a bite to eat, and chances to see wildlife, like bald eagles!I love Douglas Lake, and am thrilled to call it home. Just a warning though...it is a seasonal lake, and while it's still beautiful in the winter, it's about 50 feet lower than the summer season.

very peaceful view of the lake from Mt. Harbor Inn and Captain Billy takes you on a sunset cruise to boot! AND...(yes there is more) then you have dessert by candle light looking at the lake.

Man made but lovely. Many celebrities have homes on this lake and the captain told us about many. It was a long walk down to the boat because of the water level but well worth it. The lake is lowered to accommodate the snow melt from the mountains.

The lake is nice for boaters but there is not one thing in Dandridge for kids or teenagers. If you plan on moving here , the schools rating is low. Check it all out before moving here if you have children.

We stayed at Anchor Down RV Resort the views from our site were breathtaking. We had a fireplace on site sat out morning and night looking out over the lake. One morning it was cold the steam coming over the lake was awesome. I took a picture of my husband in black and white turned out pretty cool. I hear there is good fishing lots of bass boats. Our son vacation on lake over summer he had a great time.

We rented a boat and explored Douglas Lake. I only wish we were there at a time when it wasn't drained. It was down 25ft when we were there so we couldn't go to some parts of the lake. It is 40 something miles long and is so pretty with the Smokey Mountains in the background. It is very clean and we even saw a bald eagle while we were out! I was impressed by how few houses, etc. were on the lake making it very serene.

We are working on a little old hewn log cabin to eventually rent to friends and co-workers right on Douglas Lake. We have really enjoyed vacationing and sometimes living out here away from the hassle of the tourist areas of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but still only 1/2 hour to an hour away. The water turns really warm in the summer, but the cabin is up against a hill, and Douglas Lake beckons below. Although Douglas is a TVA lake with levels that fluctuate according to power demand, they have left plenty of water for us from May into September.Douglas is not crowded very often, but taking a slow cruise with the pontoon boats to visit friends is one of the best ways to enjoy leisure time. There are several places to stay on the lake, and in Dandridge, so come enjoy the slower pace of life.

Beautiful green cool water. Lined with trees and a few nice buildings. Plenty of space for your activities without intruding on others. We rented a pontoon boat and pulled several floating rafts behind for some great fun! Nice place to just chill out and enjoy the breeze over the water.

Douglas Lake isn't anything special, but there are some nice views of the lake and the mountains. There are a few little things you can do here at the lake, places to swin, picnic and grill. I recommend it for a nice lazy day to relax.

The lake is really big, great for boating or paddling! We rented a pontoon boat for a half day. Nest time we'll bring our kayak and SUP.

I live here and go out on the lake as often as possible. Be careful driving a boat on the lake when it starts to rise in the spring because there will be lots of logs but other than that it's a great place to go relax with friends and family!
