Had my son's 6th birthday party there and it was AMAZING! Not only is the museum great (we had lost hours of our lives there in the past) the party they had for my little boy was great, attentive staff, age appropriate and organized! It was so nice to have an easy birthday party for once!

Don't miss this superbly done museum. We spent at least 4 hours exploring, interacting with docents who were very helpful, and being wowed by the dinosaur exhibits. This is our #1 for Salt Lake City

This museum seems to have something for everyone and one could easily spend a whole afternoon. It is also designed with families with young children in mind - hands on activities and lots of diversity. I like the ramp that wraps through the exhibits - I started at the top and worked down - great views of the dinosaurs and other exhibits.

Wow, what an amazing job in the design of the new Natural History Museum. Great exhibits and a nice flow. We visited again during one of the semi-annual open houses and immediately bought a season family pass. A wide array of standing exhibits plus rotating special exhibits. Highly recommend for the entire family.

I've taken my small family 3 times now. I think it was $8/adult. The place is really really big and it has a great display of dinosaurs. I love how they are layed out with the ramp that wraps up through the display. They have a nice mineral collection but it's not very big. We went when they had the horse special exhibit. It was fascinating. The kids love the play room with all the games and coloring and toys. The food is pretty spendy and there aren't a ton of choices. We will definitely go again. If we lived close, this would be a great place to take young children with an annual pass. We live too far away.

My boyfriend and I decided to stop in on our way to the airport on a Sunday morning so he could take pictures of the dinosaurs for his 5-year old son. We were not disappointed! This was the best dinosaur fossil display he had seen - very impressed. Everything was well laid out and there was plenty of space to walk around without bumping into anyone. The building looked brand new. We really liked being able to see into the paleontology room and the room where they store the large fossils. The current exhibit on large mammals was good too. I wish we had more than 45 minutes because we spent nearly all of that looking at the dinosaurs. We would have liked to see the outside exhibits too. I'm sure children would be fascinated by all the displays.

A modern twist on the oldest inhabitants of Utah. The new home of the exhibits from the old museum with much bigger and much better hands on exhibits and attention grabbing displays makes this a must see destination in Salt Lake City. Close to everything. Great for all ages and interests.

The exterior is a lovely new multi-million dollar rusted metal building with acres of concrete surrounding it. It has a large mostly empty lobby. Right away you will be thrust into a world where man is bad and the earth is cooking like a barbecue. Once you are past the first floor though, you will find yourself in a room full of dinosaur fossils. There are so many, the kids might get board. The next interesting room is the Native American artifacts. There is a nice wall of gem samples, as well. However, that is it. They might have an interesting travelling exhibit, but for the most part, it is a marginal Natural History Museum with nothing you haven't seen or heard before. If you are travelling with children of any age, the Planetarium is a better bet, and more honest.

This was our first visit. Family of 6, including 3 kids age 9, 6 and 4. We used our Salt lake Connect passes. We visited on a Sunday around 1. We spent about 3 hours and we moved fairly quickly. Two levels of parking and the first level was full. Pretty busy for a Sunday around these parts! We started on the 5th floor per someone on TA advice. My kids particularly enjoyed some of the interactive features like water and landscapes and the earthquake exhibit. There is a "kiddie" area which has a water table, some tunnels and dressup things. It's for the 10 and under crowd. The special exhibit was Extreme Mammals and it was very cool to see and we learned a lot. We made a short visit to the gift shop. They have something ranging from $1 and on up for the kids. We didn't go to the cafe.I think we will visit UNHM about once a year or whenever their special exhibit changes.

Whatever youre interest, you'll find something wonderful and interesting in this beautiful museum. Such a treat to experience, even the location is special. Save some time to walk the trails outside afterward. Fun for my college age son as well as my 7 yr old!

I watched the building go up with great anticipation.Everything about the museum has exceeded my expectations! The building, exhibits, educational experiences - not to mention well versed staff - is all outstanding.THE best attraction for locals and visitors to see in Utah.

The new Natural History Museum is in a lovely site above the Salt Lake Valley - definitely worth heading up the bench to see the whole city spread out below. The museum is a can't miss for aspiring paleontologists - the new displays are even better for fun learning and the displays are irresistibly photogenic. Don't stop with the dinos, though - the geology and human history of Utah are both worth stopping by. The visiting exhibits have been very good - check out what's up!

This is a wonderful experience for both kids and adults. The museum lends itself to a leisurely walk around, as well as an indepth experience for researching items and projects. There is always a great display featured. I brought 35, seven and eight year olds here....they loved it!

If you are traveling in Utah and want to understand the nature of the place, come here. This is one of SLC's best assets.
