wonderful trail, got into the sagebrush, and developed hives. petroglyphs and granary. Seemed like a hike most people could do

Beautiful little waterfall but I'm not convinced it is, for most/some/many folks, worth the hike which is some 2 - 3 miles each way. We went in July when it was (duh) hot and the water was still well, not un-swimmable, but not something to hang out in. Another grievance is that this activity more or less French-fries an entire day what with it being so out of the way just to find the trail head. Then, its off along a sandy trail that is easy/moderate but does take time. When you finally get to the falls: Well, although pictures never really do anything justice and it was really neat it nevertheless did pretty much look like the pictures. Lastly, if some of your party aren't physically up to it and have to stay back at the trailhead that would be a drag; it is pretty Spartan and you'd be gone a long time. There isn't much to do at the little park site at the beginning of the trail. Just a pooper, a few picnic benches and a wading pool. For me, it was worth it because I like hiking just for hiking's sake. But I had kids with me and whereas they agreed the falls were neat they pretty much were down on the experience as a whole as not worth the trouble. However, I likewise qualify this because was had already toured Zion and Bryce Canyon which are jaw droppers. By the time we arrived at the falls the kids were pretty saturated with rocks and hiking. To them this was 'meh.' But as a stand-alone day trip for cabin-fevered energetic folks it would be another thing entirely.Bottom line: If you like hiking for that experience in and of itself then the falls are the icing on the cake. If to you a hike is an unfortunate prerequisite to a scenic experience you might want to consider the other "Mighty 5" state parks where astounding landscapes abound around every corner. And you can look at them from your car.

Easy but long hike to an amazing waterfall. Took us 3 hours round trip with our 6 year old. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

The water was frigid, but when winter is approaching and you're able to wear shorts and a t-shirt outside, it seemed appropriate to jump in. The falls were incredibly beautiful - and the combination of the golden light streaming in at midday, and the yellow leaves on all of the aspens in the canyon made November a great time to travel to Calf Creek Falls. (And there were only a handful of people on the entire trail).

This place is amazing, well worth the 90 minute trek in!! Make sure you go early in the morning,we started around 8amish,and when we got there we had the whole place to ourselves for over an hour!!! Plus the trek in was in the shade!!! On the way out,we must of passed 50ish people, its not a huge place so we knew it would spoil with many people!!! Go early, take breakfast and enjoy!!!

Heads up: Utah is made entirely of sand, so much of the hiking involves sand walking. As long as you know that: this is a great, not too long hike into a GORGEOUS waterfall, where the temp is much cooler than the canyon you hike through to get to it. Went in fall, when the changing leaves made the scenery that much more incredible. Saw lots of kids, a number of older (60+) hikers, and I took my dog, and without exception, everyone was having fun. I only went to Lower Calf Creek Falls so can't speak to the upper hike. DO IT!

It was so amazing to hike the three miles to the falls and be so surprised by the beauty and coolness of the area.

I was in a time crunch so I hiked in in the dark (not advised) but arrived at the falls just after light and hung out as the lighting improved. The falls are great and in the cool of the morning the birds were very active. The hike out was equally beautiful and the interpretive trail is very informative. I wish the pictographs were a bit closer but just a perfect hike if you avoid the heat of the day.

The parking area is quite small so arrive early or risk having to turn back. Parking is $5. The hike itself is over a sandy path so isn't dissimilar to walking 6 miles along a beach. If, like the day we hiked, the temperature is quite high then you'll need a couple of litres of water The falls at the end are well worth it though but remember there are no bathroom facilities along the route so you'll not be able to wee for 3 hrs

Lots to see on this hike. Take a trail guide so you can read about the numbered points of interest. There is a camping area there and the Hosts are great.

Perhaps the BEST hike I have ever taken. Nice trail, soaring cliffs, ancient pictographs, and it all ends at an amazing waterfall. 3 miles in, 3 miles out.

It was a little less than 3 miles to the falls (less than 6 miles round trip). It is a pretty easy hike, except in places where there was a lot of loose sand-like material, which made it a little more difficult to get good footing. You do get some nice views of the rock formation which made the hike more interesting. The falls at the end was very scenic as it cascade over the red and sandstone cliffs. It is definitely worth the hike to get there.

This is a beautiful 6-mile round trip hike to the Calf Creek Falls. Not too strenuous, and worth the view (and temperature) at the falls! It was a very warm day, but the falls acted as a swamp cooler and it was so refreshing!

Hiked to the Calf Creek Lower Falls. 3 miles in and 3 miles out. Beautiful waterfall 126 ft. drop. Take a dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls. Very refreshing!

It's all on sand and it's a 6 mile round trip that is relatively flat, but the sand makes this difficult. Wear a swimsuit and jump in the pool at the end of the trail. It's really cold, but feels great after the gritty hike. I'd hike early or late to beat the sun. Bring lots of water. I went through 3 litres. Trekking poles were helpful as well and a small towel to dry off at the waterfall.
