the spa at montchanin village

I had high hopes for my first visit to this spa, and was disappointed.1. I arrived an hour early so that I could enjoy the amenities (steam room, sauna, whirlpool) but there were not any amenities. That's okay. I suppose some smaller spas just do not have those. I decided to take a shower in the locker room before going to the relaxation lounge, but there was NO SHOWER in the locker room either! This is unacceptable!2. My therapist came to get me from the relaxation lounge 10 minutes late to take me into my treatment room for my treatment, then returned to my treatment room to begin the treatment 5 minutes later. So, overall, my treatment started 15 minutes late. But it ended on time :)3. The treatment room itself was very tiny (normally used for waxing) and as bright as day because it had 2 windows that looked outside and they were letting in the bright afternoon sunshine, and they had no curtains or shades on them that could be closed. This was not going to work, so the receptionist had to juggle another appointment, and another guest agreed to switch rooms with me (a man, who ever you are, thank you!).3. During my facial, while the mask was on, my therapist left the room. I HATE THAT!!! There are PLENTY of things the therapist can do while the mask is drying: scalp massage, hand massage, foot massage ... just do SOMETHING unless it is an emergency and you MUST leave the room, but this should NOT be the norm!Too many other really REALLY good spas in the Mid-Atlantic to go to (Continuum of Wellness at Colonial Williamsburg, Hotel Hershey's Chocolate Spa, Nemacolin Woodlands, Primland, Greenbrier, Homestead, Woodloch, Inn at Perry Cabin's Linden Spa, Salamander Spa in Middleburg, Boar's Head in Charlottesville, etc.) for me to double back to this one that just did not meet my standards.The hostess and therapist were very nice, but it just was not worth the time or money, and the facilities needed some upgrading.

This spa is heavenly. They have many unusual "signature treatments."I chose the "Hamman Body Ritual" massage. It is a 90-minute treatment which includes various aromatic treatments and massage. It was very relaxing and wonderful. My friend had the "Rose and Linen Age Reversal Facial," and she loved it.Sally Willette was my masseuse; she was quite experienced and did a wonderful job.I can't wait to go back!
