Good beach at the mouth of Delaware Bay Remenants of a WW2 coast watch tower, as well as miles of beach, much calmer on the bay side the the rough surf on the ocean. The horseshoe crab capital of the world. The weird prehistoric beasts recently have caught the interest of scientists for possible medical applications.

Family oriented clean beach - bay side. I take my granddaughter who is 4 there because there are gentle waves and very long gradual drop off.

Lewes Beach is a great place to spend the day. Beautiful area. Safe and clean. Great for the family. Nice beach for long walks or a run.

This is a great place to park and relax and enjoy the Delaware Bay. You can watch the ferry come and go or just enjoy the sun and sand. It has always been a great beach to take the kids because you dont have to worry about the big waves and undertow.

Lewes Beach is a great place to spend the day! My family and I love the ocean, and Lewes Beach is perfect... Plenty of sand for everyone, lifeguards, plenty of FLUSH toilets, Hot Showers, and even a concession stand if you don't feel like packing your lunch! There is a small State Park Fee per car, but totally worth it if you are going to spend the whole day there. Lots of great hiking trails, and even bike rentals are right down the street, disc golf, fishing, etc.. There is tons of stuff to do, but all we did was played on the sand!! I can't wait to go back!

Why pay to go to the Ocean beach (or wait in the long traffic line). Lewes Beach has nice soft sand, clean water and lots of space to relax on your own.

I know it's only once a year, but these races are so much fun. A fundraiser for charity, various local businesses and groups form rowing teams to race these slim two-paddler-wide boats down the canal in Lewes. The boats have a team of rowers, a steer person in the back and a person drumming the rowing beat on a large drum in the front of the boat. The enthusiasm is contagious and you end up yelling for people you don't even know. It lasts all day - and there's an auction of artwork, vacation stays and much much more. And it's free. I had an excellent viewpoint from a bench alongside the canal. Try planning your visit to Historic Lewes to enjoy these races and then walk into the historic city and enjoy lunch and shopping. The races are held in September - look for the local Chamber of Commerce site for exact dates for next year,

We went late in the day on a Saturday afternoon in September and had a great day. It was a bit cold but we still had a wonderful relaxing day. There were only about 100 people on the beach near the Dairy Queen, it was a two block walk from our bed and breakfast. Bathrooms were nearby and the beach was quiet. The town is beautiful to walk around, even on the beach side of the canal. The sand was clean and white. You can see the ferry coming and going all day. There is a small parking lot which I would think is hard to find a space in during summer season but it wasn't full in September and there were a lot of places to rent within walking distance.

Lewes is THE place on the Delaware sea shore, a very cute and historic town, good restaurants and, most importantly, Cape Henlopen Park, a wonderfully natural beach park.

Lewes, is a small historical town with so much to offer. Great clean, white sand beaches, bath house (with shower's) not as crowded as the main beach in town. You can take the ferry from their over to Cape May, NJ. Their is a lot of neat shop's in town. And they also hold antiques shows on the grounds. Several antique shops to browse in, with many other kind of shops also. Great ice cream store--to many kinds to pick from (got to make a stop in their, a must) Local produce stands, Great restaurants all near by. Can walk to must of them. Can also go out with a fishing crew for the day to fish. It is laid back, but easy to get to downtown Rehoboth Beach in no time, And all the outlet shopping centers on RT.#1. Very clean small town with a lot of possible, and things to do. In a much relax atmosphere!!! Take your time to check it out!!! And enjoy a different pace of this beach area............

Enjoy that you can pull right up to a meter at the beach, which cuts down on all the walking. There are bathrooms and a Dairy Queen there. It is hard to find a space to park and it does cost.

The beach was so clean and pretty.... soft sand, nice breezes and large enough that we had distance between families.

Very relaxing, calm, and not the least bit crowded. It really is the perfect beach for a family with young children. Our 2 year old had a great time, and we had no safety concerns for him. We stayed in the Port Lewes townhome community, and were steps away from the beach. The town of Lewes is also very charming, with several nice restaurants and shops.

Free small to mid-size beach with calm water. Great for swimming or watching boats on the water. Bay beach with no crashing waves. Metered parking or pay parking lot. Sand gets very hot so water shoes or flip flops recommended. There is a bath house nearby. Lovely local beach.

If you drive to the beach be prepared to pay a small parking fee, if you walk it's free. Nice beach, if your there on the weekend come early.
