An historic site that a tourist does not want to miss visiting if they are interested in WWII at all.

I've lived in MD all my life and I never knew the WWII history of coastal Delaware. Fort Miles is buried beneath a sand dune and, along with the cement towers along Route 1, protected the Delaware Bay. Fort Miles is being restored and "re-armed" to tell its story to visitors.

First, the guide Katlyn was perfect. She is so knowledgeable and this is not a "canned" tour. It is quite interactive and she answers all sort of questions about the Fort and its history. You have to call to arrange a tour. The tour takes you into the actual gun batteries. You also get to see the recently acquired gn that came from the USS Missouri. The story of Fort Miles and how it worked is a good one. A bonus is the views from the park. There is an entry fee to the park during summer months and a fee for the guided tour.

Great place to fish and enjoy the beach. Clean and nice for family. I go regularly and never disappointed.

Visited here with friends who had stayed here many times when it was reserved for military personnel recreation. You can walk up one of the towers built to look for and sight artillery in case enemy ships were sited along the coast or entering Delaware Bay.

Everything to like, nothing to dislike about this State Park. Tents, RV camping. Showers and restrooms, Bike Path, Beach, Hiking Trails, the awesome aroma of Pine Trees while you sleep.

Enjoyed learning the history of the Fort, and especially enjoyed climbing the tower for a great view of the Lewes area. Highly recommend this!!

Who would have thought? I mean, there was a whole military city there during WWII and it was hush hush. Now there are tours some days and lantern tours some evenings.

This former base was built to protect US against invasions. There are still the barracks and some buildings left, and they are restoring the bunkers. Many cyclists were there along with rollerbladers and skateboarders. You should check before you go, because there is a schedule of tours available. This would make your trip there even more enjoyable. There is a fee for entering the park.

This is a small Fort but very interesting. You get to see what life must of been like for the men who manned this fort. Check to see if the building housing artifacts is open, it's worth walking into. Check out the small to big guns located throughout the fort, have a look a the observation tower just to get an idea of what it must of been like less the stress of war

I like preserved forts with interpreted history. Right now, the fort has buildings, interpretive signage, a few armament displays and an enthusiastic staff. I looked at the artist rendering of their plans and I can see them getting even more visitors if their plans are realized. I wish them well, and I look forward to visiting again. It is a great site for learning while enjoying the shore.

What a great educational stop on our vacation with our family. There is something here for all ages and this fort offers great views of all of the surrounding areas. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions.

This is a hidden gem. There is not much information available. We sort of stumbled upon it. We (mom, dad, and small child), loved walking through the fort, going inside an observation tower, reading info, and looking at WWII artifacts. It was a nice way to spend a little over an hour. The state park has lots of paths, where we saw bicycles and hikers. Could have spent more time here if we prepared for it better.
