This is stop #9 along the Western Heritage Historic Byway. The dam and hydroelectric plant have some historical importance in this area: built in 1901 to supply electricity to mining towns in the area, it was the first project of its type on the Snake River. The best photographic angle is just upstream in what looks to be a small park next to the river. Keep in mind, this isn’t the Hoover or Grand Coulee Dam, but the backdrop is very scenic. As of the third week of October, there was a significant amount of construction traffic (i.e., dust, noise and impediment to scenery) in this area. Not sure when this will abate, but it might be better to wait a while to get a cleaner “viewscape.”
