Today I called the attraction prior to driving out there. Rebecca at the desk answered the phone and essentially lied about what was open and the conditions on the hill. Based on her recommendation I took the drive out. When I arrived only (1) beginner run was open, the other run was closed for sledding. I asked someone about snowmaking and they said " we haven't made snow in over 2 weeks". perhaps they should offer a discount pass when they only have a fraction of the mountain available. there wasn't snow cover everywhere some dirt was visible right off the lift. I stayed less than 1 hour, took a couple runs, definitely NOT worth the nearly $40 ticket price.I will NEVER go back, I wasn't expecting great conditions, but the staff I encountered was terrible.I had to wait at the desk since Rebecca "forgot to put out the bell", downstairs the guys never said hello, or engaged anyone in any polite conversation, the lift operators I assume must be mutes, perhaps they are interns from the Iowa school for the deaf. I thanked them every time I got on the chair, even joked about Lunchtime, no one at any time made me feel like I was having fun. No wonder I left after 1 hr.According to the website they said the put a lot a money into the hill, ( they also say snow 100% of the time) well perhaps a little more snowmaking is required, and customer service would go a long way too. I agree with another reviewer, I don't feel they are honest about conditions, just trying the get your there to get your money. they will say anything and misrepresent the website conditions. I wasn't expecting Colorado, but they could have made the most of this opportunity but they all wiped-out in my experience.... SORRY screw me once shame on you !!! it won't happen twice... hopefully it won't happen to anyone else

Mount Crescent isn't bad if you consider that you're trying to ski in Iowa. If my memory serves correctly, Nebraska's only skiing area doubles as a paintball course in the summer. You have to be thankful for what you have. That being said, Mount Crescent needs some serious upgrades to their snow production systems. In the three seasons I've gone there, I've only been on three runs. You can only go down the bunny slope so many times before it gets old. This was the first season I was there where the newer chair lift was actually open. The signage and some of the facilities could also use some refreshing. Mount Crescent also needs to come through on its promises - last summer they promised zip lines and other activities but nothing materialized. On the other hand, the staff was excellent (I wish I could give a separate review for them). I have wide calves and one of the guys in the ski shop spent some time filing and duct taping my boot so it would fit just right. Additionally, I snapped off my lift ticket when getting off the chair lift but the guy running the lift said he remembered me so I didn't have to dig it out of my pocket every time. Sidenote--Before you head home, I'd stop by the Loess Hills Vineyard and Winery. They have some sweet wines and the staff are very pleasant.

I can imagine it has been a very disappointing season for skiing. I made plans to take my family there over Christmas break and when we arrived there literally was one run open. We turned around and drove the hour and a half home. This is after I had called and they assured me that they had been making tons of snow. Well, we had quite a bit of snow at home and I checked out the website which showed pictures of "Current - updated every hour" conditions so we headed over again. Unfortunately, they shouldn't have been open again. Two runs open and they shouldn't have been. Staff at the lifts were joking about having to get a boat out to pull the skiers in. It looks like it might be fun and the lodge looks nice but first impressions are important and mine is not favorable. Don't know if I'd try and go back since I don't think they are particularly honest about the condition of their slopes.

They have a two chair and a four chair that give you anywhere from 3 to maybe 8 different runs depending on the snow conditions. They make snow so you'll be able to have some fun even if you don't see any snow on the drive over. Take for granted you're In the midwest & limited with less elevation. They set up some jumps and rails and have had nice mini pipes and good sized hips and jumps over the years. There's a nice lodge to eat and warm up in with the rental shop below. They have step in bindings if you need to rent. The ski patrol is on point and ready to assist anyone in need.

A good starting point for a beginner skier. The rental prices are reasonable and you can exchange your skies for a snowboard at no extra cost.

Although limited in slopes, this is a terrific place to learn. The staff is friendly and willing to help you have a great experience. Give this place a try if you want to learn for the first time, or just refresh your skills before hitting the big slopes in CO. This is where I took my 12 year old son to learn. The ski and snowboard lessons are super.
