Kaplan's Woods Park goes way back to my grade school days. It is a favorite place to walk with my dog in the woods on both the tarred and natural walkways.

I just love walking all paths with my dog. There are posted maps so you don't get lost. You can walk for miles just remember to bring mosquito repellent.

This former state park land has a variety of trails and is a good place to go for a 30 to 45 minute walk. Located right in town, it provides a fairly natural setting with generally easy trails (just a few hills), though you can hear I-35 while walking. It also contains a small lake and a bike trail from downtown to the woods.

Kaplan's Woods is a nice small place to walk. There is parking and it isn't too far of a walk from the "big" "Lake" Kolimer. In the winter, you can cross country ski at Kaplan's. Kaplan's isn't a big place, but it is nice forested place to walk your dog. Be forewarned, a lot of people ignore the leash law and don't lease their dogs and their dogs will charge you. Se be careful. The police know about it but don't do anything about it. It is in a residential neighborhood and can be difficult to find.
