Went by this as we were driving around. It is a private residence but it was fun to drive by and tell the kids who Bob Dylan is and what he did for music.

We were in Hibbing for the Rust Hall open pit ore mine and the Greyhound bus museum. We had to get our rental car serviced and had the technicians there tell us of the house. Since we were also to go to the Motown Museum (Detroit) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland) on the trip, we decided to drive by the house and make a photo. Reading later of Dylan and learning of his lyrics on Route 61 (which we also traveled), hearing soon after of the $2 million sale of his hand written lyrics "Like a Rolling Stone," and then listening to an NPR piece on a guy who finished two of Dylan's incomplete songs made me feel that the brief excursion was valuable.

Not knowing what to expect on "Bob Dylan Drive" I was pleasantly surprised at the well maintained Dylan house with its tidy yard well pruned hedges and trees. It really was a great experience and the neighbour's yards and houses seemed equally maintained and friendly. The entire town actually was a great place to walk and enjoy. I'll go again. Gary

House is actually at 25th and 7th (far end of 2400 block), not 27th and 7th. House is not marked but Hibbing obviously wants you to know where it is as 7th has street signs proclaiming it "Bob Dylan Drive" from the main drag (E. Howard off 169) right down to the house. As for the whole "he wasn't born here" spiel: most fans who've bothered to read up know that and also know that Dylan wasn't too fond of his roots and liked to fudge and fabricate tales, not surprising for a smart ambitious guy from a little traditional town. I'm old and past caring if anyone will laugh at me for taking a photo of a famous musician's old house, and worrying about that stuff is for self-conscious hipsters, so if you have an interest in Dylan history and fancy a look, drive on by. Hibbing and Zimmy's (on E. Howard a block from where you turn to get to the house) are obviously not shy about capitalizing on his image. Zimmy's has some cool old postcards of Dylan, Echo and his old band mates, as well as a decent porketta sandwich.

House is at 27th & 7th. Garage door is painted over. GO TO ZIMMY'S tavern/restaurant at Howard & 7th for a great place, it's a shrine to Dylan.

He wasn't born here. He didn't even live here til he was in grade school. He was not as in love with Hibbing as Hibbing is with him... he left at 18 and never look back.He lived in this house for barely 12 years. Streets and a restaurant are named after him here. It's not his birthplace or anything else like that. This is a house, privately owned with a real family inside. It sold at normal prices for the size/area. Nothing special.... a bit shameful. Drive by or stop to take photos if you must but witnesses will laugh at you.

Since there are no markings on the house to identify it as Bob Dylan's home, we relied on friends who were local to tell us about it. Seems as if Dylan doesn't acknowledge Hibbing as his home. It's a lovely little town, and the high school,is amazing. The mining companies spent a great deal of money on the educational system as part of the deal with the town to develop the mines in the area.

It's a home like many others. Across the street from Hibbing High, which IS an amazing structure. Don't know when he moved to Duluth, but the Range had some impact on him.

All there is to see is a house on a corner. And it is an average house at that. No marker or any history about when he lived there even.

Easy to find, worth driving by, didnt want to be nusciance to owners so snap quick pic out window and kept driving

Yawn. It is a house. Granted Bob Dylan grew up there, but he won't say that. He claims to be from Duluth.

The home where Bobby Zimmerman grew up is not open to the public, but the people who live there obviously appreciate the significance of the house. The garage door on the side of the house is painted as the "Blood on the Tracks" akbum cover -- in my opinion, Dylan's best piece of work.

i was laid off a year ago & been making get-by money with stocks. to relieve the grind, i packed up and drove west. i saw the other review one night as i retired for the night. i was only a day away...see Bob Dylan's house and hometown?? why not....off i went. entered town to the sound of "beyond here lies nothin'" and took the tours and drove around. then i walked around. ate something. had a couple of smokes walking the main downtown street. all in all, it was a worthy side trip if you find yourself on the road going nowhere special and you got some time to kill.

Really, a trip to Hibbing is a great half-day stop for any Bob Dylan fan. Plan to load up your car with Dylan CD's and take a road trip to see the town that Bob grew up in. Bob's old house and Hibbing high school are just drive by attractions. Be sure to eat a good lunch at Zimmy's restaurant, that Bob has no association with, but is really just there as a novelty. Finally, and the best part about Hibbing, is go to the Hibbing Public Library and they have a Bob Dylan Museum in a back room in the basement with original memorabilia from his high school talen shows, a collage of many of his record albums, and miscellaneous photogs and articles relating to Bob. It was a great time!
