Nothing fabulous about this place but it's close by and does have many slots which is what I enjoy. It's too smokey though and sometimes you have to wait a long time for a drink at the bar although last time I was there - they were taking drink orders on the floor which is a nice touch. Don't know if they always do that as I only visit about 1 every couple months.

Liked it all. Nothing to complain about. Good food. Nice room. Comfortable beds. Close to shopping if that's something you want to do

Its a casino. You go there to gamble.. So win or loose make the most of it. Friendly staff. Smokey, very smokey ! Could use more ventilation. Dont hear a lot of ringing going on from winning machines.... Drink carts are few and far between. Some nights I dont think they are even there. Yes, drinks are pricey... but once again... its the casino. Also, NO restaurants after 9 !! just a little snack bar.

Casino is a favorite. They do a nice job of keeping the air as fresh as possible with all the smoking there is at the Casino

For a nonsmoker, it was quite smoky in the casino. I did get $5 in casino cash, which turned in to $50.

Stopped by for a brief visit on the way home from the North Shore and enjoyed the older machines. The casino is clean and the staff friendly.

I like this casino, it's bright and plenty of room so the machines aren't all crammed together. Lots of different fun machines to play. I won't say it's great on payouts as I think that really depends on the player. $20 can last quite awhile on the penny machines but on the other hand if you like to bet bigger, well your $20 could be gone in a flash just like other casinos. The bar is OK for getting a drink but bartenders don't seem too friendly but that's not really a problem. The Cobalt nightclub is a nice place to listen to bands on the weekend, for free, and is a nice break place from playing the machines!

Came for a concert and we came early to gamble a bit. When we tried to get drinks at the bar, they only had one bartender and the line went way back into the casino. We skipped it there and went to the concert. After two beers, they ran out! Ran out of beer at a concert! Never again...

Great location to include in your trip to Duluth/superior. About 23 miles sw of Duluth. Great Buffet and friendly staff. Easy on and off the interstate. Easy parking. Fun slots.

The casino is basically one big open square with no interior walls, which I think leaves something to be desired. Other casinos have different rooms / spaces which each have their own unique character or theme. There is a good selection of slots and they have blackjack and a small poker room. The buffet is always very busy. It's not particularly big, but I have always found multiple things that I have enjoyed. Nothing spectacular, but you won't leave hungry. The best thing about this casino is the comps. Hands down they have the best comps of any casinos in Minnesota.

The hotel staff is very friendly and it is a nice and clean hotel. There is an arcade and pool for families and there is a casino for those who like to place a bet. The buffet restaurant had great food at a very reasonable price and the bed in the room was very comfortable.

We took a trip to the north shore with Lutsen the primary goal l of playing Superior National in Lutsen. We decided to stay at the casino overnight and play the golf course. We played on a Monday morning where there was a two for one special. We weren't expecting much, but we both really loved the course. It is a beautiful course with narrow fairways and is iin superb shape The holes were set-up fair for my wife and she loved it as much as I did. Make sure to bring extra golf balls because you will loose a few. We both said that we enjoyed this course more than Superior National and will definately come back.

Stayed here two years ago and all was great, so we tried again. Price was up but still cheaper than hotels in Duluth. Too much smoke. Buffet area was literally falling apart (worn carpet and ripped booth seats). Food was just average buffet food. Room was too sparsely furnished. Housekeeping didn't even make both beds, just one. Shower made some horrible howling noise. Never again.

Why do I love Black Bear Casino? For one thing, it's intimate enough without being kitschy or antiquated. There are new machines all the time. It's spacious enough and there are usually machines available for two or three friends to game together, which is a rarity. The open feeling lends well to relaxation. There is the Sage Deli, with questionable cleanliness, service and food quality - but you got to know it's open 24 hours. Expect to dine with tipsy folks if after 1 a.m. The down side - beverage and cocktail servers are few and far between or crabby/not customer oriented. There are way too many garbage people vs beverage people?!??! The gift shop is great and handy to the casino patrons, although I wish it was open 24 hours. It will always be a favorite casino of mine that I have visited for many years. I like the perks and also the opportunity to use earned comp in the gift shop or restaurants, and that you allow patrons to use comp for tobacco products if this is their choice. THANK YOU. I can't wait to go back again. Love my Black Bear Casino!

Almost always stop at Black Bear on our way up north. Nice break from driving. Casino is in good location right off I35. Buffet is same as every other casino buffet. Seven fires is nice for a date night. Rooms are nice and are inexpensive.
