Would love a cabin in the area. Everything was pristine and beautiful, and the people were friendly. Grew up camping here, and was excited to share it with my boyfriend, who loved it as well.

As the Delaware River flows south along the Kittatinny Mountains, it looks for a path through the mountains in order to continue its relentless journey southeast to the ocean. Between Mt. Tammany and Mt. Minsi, not far from East Stroudsburg, PA, the river finds the gap it needs and flows through creating a wonderfully scenic natural area. Although man now shares the gap with the river, using it as a corridor for railroads, Interstate 80, Hwy 611 and the Appalachian Trail, it remains surprisingly wild; offering hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing and a sanctuary for wildlife that includes deer, bear and wild turkeys, not far from New York City and Philadelphia. The best views of the Delaware Water Gap are from overlooks near the summit of Mt. Tammany along the strenuous Red Dot Trail accessed from the Dunnfield Creek Natural Area parking lot.

The DWG is a great little place to visit. The Appalachian Trail isn't far, I forget exactly where. There's views on both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey side and there's a great diner and bakery right beside each other. I would not choose it as a vacation destination but I would call it a must stop! And I always take home the best APPLE PIE!!

We took the #5 and #6 blue and red trails, which ended up at a wonderful Delaware River overlook. A challenging climb when you're not ready for it, but well worthwhile.

After searching a lot for a hiking place in NJ I found this. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend going early in the morning. Also recommend you start the hike using the Red Trail and come back via the Blue trail. Amazing views on top. While coming back along the blue trail you will come across lots of small waterfalls. Should be good to take a dip. Overall a good half day getaway if you looking for something in NJ. Would definitely visit again.
