st joseph parish

We stopped in Cerrillos on our way to Santa Fe. We were interested in the town because of the making of the movie Young Guns and being described as a dusty western town. While here we briefly visited the church but didn't go inside, it was locked. There wasn't anyone insight to ask. So it was a quick visit.

Maybe the garden would be nice later in the year. Four very poorly carved statues of Mary, some blah tiles of events in her life. The real attraction is the shabby chic town. Lots of picture potential.

The church was locked but we were able to walk though their very unique courtyard. Knocked on a door and father was very gracious in opening the church for us and letting us visit.

We stopped at St. Joseph Church during our recent visit to the quirky town of Cerrillos. The church is right on main street; you can't miss it. We did not go inside the church itself, but took pictures of the outside. There's a shrine connected to the church. It's inside a courtyard; the door was unlocked when we stopped so I quick walked in the shrine for a peek. It was pretty and very peaceful, with unique statues lining the walkway. I only stayed a second or two; since the door to the courtyard was closed (albeit unlocked) I felt uncomfortable just wandering around.

La chiesa è molto bella, da fuori, inserita in un contesto quasi immobile, dove tutto sembra sospeso, anche il tempo. Non siamo riusciti ad entrare, forse era il giorno sbagliato. Comunque trovandosi in strada si può fare una sosta veloce per scattare qualche foto.
