I'm not quite sure what we were expecting, but . . Old Trail Town was recommended to us as a "must see" - If you are a real western and/or Wyoming history buff, I'm sure you would enjoy this. I don't know that we'd consider this a must-see. The staff was very friendly - It is a self-guided tour around a "town" which has old, authentic buildings (businesses and homes) from different historical places. Each building is labeled with historical information. It is something to consider the work that has gone into dismanteling these buildings where they were and then reconstructing them here. There are old wagons, etc going down the center of the street between the two sides of the street where the historic buildings are placed. Those are interesting, and if interested in photography, great photo ops here.

It does not cost much to go here...there is even a senior discount! All buildings were taken from somewhere else and put up again here to show you what an old western town was like long ago. One building is like a museum and has some very interesting displays in it. One building is a bar with bullet holes in the walls to prove how liquor and guys can become on a night in town after being out on the range for a while! :) There is a one room school...all very interesting. I think everyone should take a bit of time to tour at your own pace this wonderful landmark. A walk around the property even has some famous graves for you to look at. It's located on the outskirts of town and easy to find.

Little hidden gems all over this restored "Western" town. The buildings have been collected from all over Wyoming. Great little gift shop, with unusual items. Take the walking tour around the original site of the town of Cody. The buildings are very interesting and don't forget to look around at the wagons and behind and through the buildings. Great photo opportunities. We have, in fact, done our engagement and family photos there. Definitely worth a stop while in Cody.

We enjoyed looking around the old time; one of the staff (owner ?) had a lasso rope, who spend quality time with my boys showing them how to lasso - thankfully not each other.. Well worth the visit

Definitely more than meets the eye. Beautifully maintained and preserved. People really care about history. A photographer's paradise. Go early to keep too many people out of your shots. Nice artifact collection to boot!

You must stop and tour this town! It is awesome! To walk where Butch Cassidy did and see all the bullet holes in the saloon, etc... Great to see!

This IS the Wild West! All the history of not only Cody but the surrounding areas can really be summed up here at the Trail Town Museum, come to see how the wild west really was!

If you are a history buff you won't want to miss Cody's Old Trail Town! The buildings were taken apart, moved from their original locations and then reconstructed here...it is a real reminder of the tough western life! About 20 buildings to see. The cemetery has graves with the most famous being Jeremiah Johnson. Robert Redford who played Jeremiah in a movie came here to rebury his body. Can't imagine anyone who would not like Old Trail Town. There is a small feebut well worth the time and money!

Old Trail Town should not be missed when you are in Cody or on the way to Yellowstone National Park. It just oozes history from the buildings to the grave sites of some of the legendary characters of the Old West. There is nothing artificial or staged here - just the genuine article.

We took a group of 20 and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. It gives you a true feel of the real west, as it was lived by the pioneers and early residents. The collections are well displayed and fascinating. The staff is helpful and friendly. We would go again!

This site is a must see if you're visiting Cody. Theses are the actual buildings that significant characters actually resided in over the last 150 years. Folk like Butch Cassidy and the SunDance Kid. Curly, general Custers Scout etc

We're fans of the Old (and New) West, so this was a place we definitely planned to try anyway, as we headed out of Cody toward Yellowstone. But still, we were pleasantly surprised at how authentic it all was - from the grave sites of some real varmints, to that of Jeremiah "Liver Eating" Johnston (not Johnson!). In fact, we learned a lot about the difference between the Redford/Hollywood version, albeit respectful, of the mountain man's life and the real thing. It was very cool to stroll into the real barroom that Butch and Sundance played cards and slugged down whiskey in. The cabins were beautifully preserved; looking at all the different trail wagons provided a glimpse into the difficulty of the westbound settlers' journeys in comparison to ours. And the price of admission ($8 for us, in late Sept.) was a bargain.Highly recommended, if you can go on a slow day, as we did, to be able to savor everything without being jostled around.

If you are in Cody, perhaps on the way to Yellowstone, then Old Trail Town is well worth spending a couple of hours to visit. May not look much from the road, but the historic buildings are well preserved and presented. An interesting experience of the real Old West! You will not regret the stop.

Old Trail Town sits on the original townsite of Cody, WY. For a small entrance fee, visitors stroll through a town created from historic buildings (houses, businesses, bars, cabins) that have been carefully disassembled, moved, and reassembled from remote locations in Wyoming and Montana. At the far end are two areas of gravesites; Jeremiah Johnson is buried there. We spent a little more than an hour for a very pleasant visit.

Although this is a relatively small attraction is was for me a highlight of our visit to Cody. There were more buildings here than I had expected and their authenticity and the photographs they contained certainly provided a glimpse of the old wild west. My husband loving having his photo taken at the front door of several cabins. The small entrance charge was definitely value for money and I would certainly recommend a visit to Old Trail Town.
