This miniature museum is a free place to go (you may leave a donation to help keep it open) and is very interesting. It tells a story of the Indians and how they lived in the area. The railroad that came through the land...it's also has real artifacts of Indians on display to keep them (the artifacts) safe and free for the public to see. There is a gift shop there worth looking through also as you go to the miniature village museum. This is a MUST SEE stop in Cody!

This is a magnificent collection that the owner started as a boy, and he didnt want to just sell it to anyone, nor let it all be stored away in some dusty warehouse, (& no kids who could carry it on) so he found a top-class museum collector in California to take it over. They will be spending this year carefully packing it up. There are large collections of Old West memorabilia here, nicely displayed. In the center was a massive miniature train Old West diorama. There are displays all along the walls, with some of the items rarities. Even if only 1/5 of the collection is still there, it's worth visiting; plus it's free anyway. The shop is a typical tourist collection of Old West / Native America souvenirs. It was quite extensive when I was there. And there's a restaurant next door. ==this is listed twice -- once HERE under Tecumseh's bec. of the gift shop, and another time just under the "Miniature" name.

Sadly the second time we came to see this fun free museum the owner told us that he had sold the entire thing to another museum out of state. We were able to view what had not been boxed up already and could see the huge doorway in back cut for more removal of the displays.

The owners are nice & the place has some interesting items. Again more history. Local lore. ( since I cannot write the exact date as it was 4 years ago that my hubby & I visited August 2014 must do) I remember a small circus set up & some Wild West Show set ups. History of the local Tribes included too.

Don't waste your time here in 2014. The display is all torn up and the gift shop doesn't have much of interest. I think in the past it might have been good but not rightnow.

The trading post is not far from the rodeo grounds, and was on our way out of town towards Yellowstone. It is easy to find. Parking is out front. You walk into a gift store first. After we looked around, we asked to see the miniatures - it is in a large room in the back of the store. There is no charge, but they do suggest a donation. The gentleman who runs this place started his collection of miniatures 60 years since he was 8 years old. He has done a nice job at depicting many scenes out of our history. We didn't have a lot of time to spend here, but it was a pleasant stop.

The history of Wyoming is characterized in miniatrure in a 66-scene display with moving trains and audio narratives. Located at 142 W. Yellowstone Ave. (2.5 miles west on US 14/16/20) is Tecumseh's Old West Miniature Village and Museum. The life work of owner Jerry Fick, this amazing "miniature" village measures a gigantic 7,000 square feet and recreates key historic western events of Wyoming and Montana from the 1600s to the 1800s. Scenes include the Oregon Trail, Custer's Last Stand, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, covered wagon migrations, etc. It is awesome! The museum also features American Indian and Old West artifacts, guns, other weaponry and wild life. This is truly one of the most unique things we have ever seen! We wish we had more time to spend there and we highly recommend you visit if you ever get to Cody. They do not charge an admission fee, but request a $5 per person donation if you wish to contribute.
