kaska family farm

We had a wonderful time two years ago in 2010 at the Kaska Family Farm. I am having a hard time finding information on it this year. Is it still open?

We have been to several of these type farms during the fall season and this one was very good. Plenty fo activities for the kids to fill an afternoon. Hard to find way off the beaten road. I believe they may have closed, so be sure to call before you go!!!

Since this appears to be the first Tripadvisor review, I'll be detailed.There's a little for everyone in the family at this remotely located family farm. Just outside of Waco (we stayed at the Waco North KOA Kampground in West, Texas, when we went), the directions on their website are easy to follow from IH 35 and under 20 miles from the highway whether you are coming from the north or the south (both sets of directions on site; we use the directions coming from the north). We expected a great 6-acre corn maze and some amateur attempt at selling extras, but instead found a first rate business set up with a successful goal of setting the tone for good, clean and warm fun for all.Their "parking lot" was a section of field easy to drive on and clearly marked. One is surprised to see all the cars but not all the people -- in this wide open Texas farmland, people sure disappear in that corn maize or spread thinly over the expansive play area.There is a corn filled sandbox and a mini maze made bales of hay for youngsters. There's a mountain of hay plopped in the open that attracts everyone from those little youngsters to adults (even though the 8 - 15 yr old seem to rule this mountain). The hayrides are comfortable and easygoing (if you're suffering from allergies, though, this is a little dusty ...).The maze itself is as big as promised, and the pathways are much wider than I expected. We walked it 2-3 people abreast. Luckily, with a few visuals (windmill, a piece of farm equipment) visible in glimpses here and there and a sound anchor (they had a great R&B band playing when we were there), you can stay oriented pretty well. My kids (ages 9 & 11), ran circles around us and probably traveled down every path -- dead ends included.When the sun was setting, it was beautiful out in that cornfield, with the added treat of a colony of bats making sweeps of the corn field. After dark, the moon was so brilliant during our visit, we didn't need our flashlights.At dark, a 2-acre "FEAR ON THE FARM" trail opens, and it's GREAT fun! Suddenly, you realize there really are people who came in all the cars, as they condense into the 1 line to go into the scary trail in groups of 6 or so. It's fun, too, standing in line listening to others before you screaming or hearing other scary sounds from the field. Both my 9 & 11 yr olds were scared in a really fun way. And I saw kids younger coming out with smiles on their faces, too (I think they ramp up the fear depending on the age of the visitors).We had Frito pie and yummy ice cold Dr. Peppers from the snack bar (appears to be a family run snack bar, spotless and efficient). My son LOVED the corn cannons (air pressured pipes that launched ears of corn at targets set up in a divided field). They had a covered area with nice and clean picnic tables. Water duck races were happening nearby. They had a bank of clean/maintained portapotties with handwashing facilities beside them. It was a perfect setting for an afternoon and evening for a family to relax and enjoy some country time together.
