My girlfriend and I were visiting my uncle near Dallas and wanted to go horseback riding. This was close by and you defiantly get your moneys worth. People are awesome and the ride is long so you can enjoy the view.

This is the first place I have ever ridden that didn't smell "horsey"! The grounds are clean, and the horses are loved and respected. I enjoyed the intermediate ride that came with about 5 trots. The trails we travelled were just beautiful--a world away from the DFW area. Very relaxing way to spend an hour and a half!

This is a great place to go if you are in the area. Extremely good prices (90 minutes for $50), friendly wranglers, wonderful horses, and an amazing ride. They offer walking, walk/trot, and advanced trail rides all for the same price. The evening ride is gorgeous with a marvelous view of the sunset. I highly recommend it!

We love this place for horseback riding. I grew up riding and they know horses, pairing the right horses and riders!

My husband and daughter went on a 1.5 hour sunset ride. Not the typical trail ride! The wranglers were very nice, allowed the horses to trot at times, and made the ride very enjoyable. Very friendly and low-key staff. Horses are very well taken care of.

We brought the kids (12, 10 & 8) to Dallas from Chicago and our family in the area suggested this outing. Each of our kids have ridden and we were all comfortable with the intermediate level. They all had previous experience trotting and walking. It was a good fit for us. However, my daughters had ridden at a horse camp that taught them to "post" (go up and down with each movement WITH the horses gait) when trotting. Marshall Creek uses the "Jockey trot" which is standing the whole time - and it took my girls a few rounds of trotting to figure out the standing position. The owner took us on the trail ride and was very helpful giving my girls (and all of us) just enough redirection to help us. In my opinion, the trot felt faster than a trot... is more of a canter... Fast... so be prepared if you are not really an intermediate rider. Maybe a north/south style difference...We forgot to complete our PayPal order before we left town and they were so kind to call the day before the ride to remind us that they hadn't received payment. Handled very professionally. The horses were beautiful. Each has it's own personality and it was great to hear the owner (Shanda, I think was her name) help us get to know them all a bit before we took off on the trail. We had a great ride. Usually I feel like trail rides end before I'm ready, but our butts and knees were ready when it was time to return to the barn.As a side note, Shanda gave us the best tips on enjoying the rest of the day in Fort Worth. We had a great day thanks to her tips! Thanks to all!

I love to ride and been looking for a place to do so since I've moved to the DFW area. I came across Marshall Creek Ranch online and decided to give them a call and go that day. I told them I would like the advanced level but I was told that I need to do a check ride at intermediate first with a wrangler. When I arrived the horses were already tacked up and waiting. The ladies running the ranch that day were all very friendly. I found out that I was the only one for the upper riding levels for the time slot so I will be solo with 2 wranglers (1 to lead the other to do my check ride). I love that they do solo rides and the different abilities. I had so much fun doing a bunch of trotting instead of being stuck at a walk in a long line like most places. The trails were beautiful and got to see a bit of the lake in the distance. It was too cold to go near the water but next time I hope to. I cant wait to return and try the advanced level ride.

My family was visiting Texas for the first time and I wanted to do something different. We had a group of 8, ages from 5 to 80 yrs old and everyone had a great time. The 5 yr. old did a "ride along" with a female wrangler and we did a beginner's trail ride around grapevine lake. The people here are very nice and took the time to fit everyone to their horses. We'll be going again since the children especially had a fun time. The next day, most of us had sore butts and legs...worthwhile though!

I liked this horse ride, was offered a helmet, asked about experience and fitted into the saddle. I didn't realise however that beginner means just walking, no trotting not even at the end. I probably should have clarified, as I assumed intermediate was for much more confident riders, but I have done previous trail rides where you get to trot at the end if you feel comfortable. However, the scenery is beautiful, the guides are helpful and the horses are just lovely. Highly recommended - just clarify what type of ride you are after before you set off as there is no switching later. It is also very good value for money in relation to other ride offerings that I looked at or have done in the past

The ladies who run/own the ranch are so nice! We did the walking trail and it was a long excursion through the woods and alongside lake grapevine. So beautiful! My horse was a little ornery, but animals have personalities like we do. The rancher with my daughter did such a great job with her. They even made sure to have a large draft horse for my husband who is very tall and over the weight limit on their website. So they will work with you. You may notice the last part of my title is sore-- I made the mistake of wearing loose jeans so make sure to wear fitted jeans.

We enjoyed our trail ride here while visiting the Dallas area. Yes, we did have to confirm our reservation by phone on the day prior to the ride. I rode Lexus and hubby rode Titan. We both rode in the intermediate group which means walk and trot. Our group had about 6 riders and 3 guides. We didn't to trot that much b/c of the muddy trails. The one complaint I have was that a boarder with her own horse tagged along at the end of the line and freaked out during one of the trots and then whined and distracted the group for the next 1/2 hour. The trail guide asked the group if we would mind not trotting anymore b/c this lady was so freaked out, and she wasn't even a paying guest for the ride. Eventually she just decided to walk her horse back to the stable, just take some lessons lady, if you can't control your horse. Overall it was a fun experience and I would recommend it, the horses seemed well cared for and the staff was very safety oriented, and did and good job of matching rider to horse. The forest and prairie was beautiful to ride through and we even crossed a few streams.

We had reservations to ride but the reservation was "released" because we did not answer our phone in a timely manner, 4 hours (we were mowing our extensive yard). Once we were able to call back the same day and speak with the owners, the owner was rude and disrespectful and blamed the problem on us. They do not take credit cards to hold the reservation. If they had taken a credit card then they could have charged us if we didn't show up. We were all set up to go and had no plans on cancelling. The owner hung up on my husband and when we returned the call, she would not pick up the phone. Very disappointing when the OWNER of the company can not handle a situation that she caused. The easy fix to the problem: TAKE CREDIT CARDS and have a firm cancellation policy in place. Would not do business with them.

My husband booked me a horse ride as a surprise and as i have not riden for ages, it was well received.I was ecstatic from start to finish. Everyone at the ranch was amazing. i was fortunate to have a 1 to 1 as i was intermediate and the others were novice. there are 32 acres of amazing forest and a beach and i could have stayed forever. Horses are all saddled up and you are assigned a horse based on you experience, size and height.Gunsmoke was just right for me. This was an unforgettable experience.thank you to everyone who made it unforgettable.

While in the DFW area my fiance took me horseback riding at Marshall Creek Ranch. We had a wonderful time and it was evident that the horses were very well cared for. The staff was very friendly and attentive as they fit each rider with their horse. We were assigned to Dixie and Freckles and they were very sweet horses. The ride was almost two hours long from start to finish and our group was fairly small (about 8 other riders). I would highly recommend Marshall Creek Ranch and will be back on my next visit to Dallas.
