Ran across this wonw winery just driving through Sisterdale ... small little town. Had a great visit and the wines are wonderful - the blends especially so. The winery is in what was originally a cotton gin; very rustic. You can also take a self guided tour which was very interesting. Well worth the stop.

We were fortunate to catch a glimpse of this winery as we breezed through. Turned around and went back and glad we did. The gentleman there (who said he was the sales room manager) was so welcoming and answered our questions. We enjoyed the self-guided tour and then he answered more of our question!. Tasted some wines and went away with a couple bottles. We especially enjoyed just visiting the old gin / building itself which is now the winery. So interesting and a wonderful way to re-purpose and save an old building.

Second stop of the day. 2012 wines are big award winners and it shows!! I would encourage you to visit Dave and at least pick up a bottle of the 3 blend...'twas my favorite. Also had a Pinot Noir which was well made. On to the next winery!!

Texas wine has many variations.Grapes are grown all over the state.Sister Creek brings wine grapes from north Texas, Lubbock, and blends several good wines for An average price, The tasting room is rustic in an old gin mill building in a long ago small town.The customer service is friendly and down home.The tastings a re reasonable priced and the wines are for you to judge.I recommend it as several beverage stores, Spec's etc., carry the brand.And head for the Welfare Cafe done the road to a grand meal!

Winery is in an old cotton gin out in the middle of nowhere. The landscape is pretty, green, and in the hill area. The building 'speaks' to the history of the area. You can take a short self-guided tour of the winery, afterwhich you can do samplings of various wines. Buy a 'coupon' for 5 tastings. Price is super reasonable. A delightful, older gentleman told us about the various wines as we tasted. Very enjoyable and pleasant. Would highly recommend a visit just to see the place, but was not especially impressed with the wines, although they may suit your tastes.

This visit to Sister Creek Vineyards was definitely unique simply because of its location. This winery is set in a Cotton Gin Factory from 1885. First of all, as you are driving down the road, don’t blink because otherwise you may miss your stop. All that is there is the winery on one side of the road and the little General Store on the other (gotta check out the General Store – way cute!)It is a very rustic setting and when you first walk in you smell it too…very OLD….almost musty. They have artifacts from that time period from the cotton gin which are kinda cool to look at. We think it would have been cool to construct a tasting bar to match the historical decor to replace the current folding tables covered with table clothes. Just a thought.They have a unique touring experience set up which is self-guided. I have never seen one quite like this before. It was impressive that they had taken the time to offer some “inside scoop” and education for those that like that kinda thing, like we do. This would be a good winery visit for a newbie to wine tasting as you can learn some of the very basics on this self-guided tour.With regard to the wines, we were told by a person at a different winery that we should visit here because they are well known for their Muscat Canelli. And yes, it was good, but more interesting because they add a tiny bit of carbonation to give it just a little snap. Kinda tasty.If you are a history buff, this place is for you. If you like Muscat Canelli, you should stop here and give it a taste. If you are a newbie and would find an educational tour valuable, put this on your trail. Otherwise, we would consider this winery only if you have spare time on your hands. Remember, that is just our opinion (but HEY, we bought three bottles!). My wife and I decided to revisit Sister Creek 3 years after our first visit. We loved the wine on the first visit.On the second visit, wine sampling went very well. Purchased several bottles of the 2012 Pinot Noir. After returning home and opening a bottle, I was very disappointed with the wine. It was bad. I opened a second bottle and the cork obviously failed to maintain a seal. This bottle too was bad. On the third bottle, I removed the wrapper from the cork and could see through the glass that the cork on the third bottle had failed as well. I didn't want too, but I had to taste it to be sure. And yes again. 3 for 3 bottles poured down the drain. What a waste. Sister Creek is a nice place to photograph and tour, but be wary of the wine.

This was such a special find. It came recommended to us and we found it to be our favorite of 3 we visited in one day. We even joined their wine club because we found it to be a great value for us and the wine is really nice. We enjoyed the self guided tour. In a quaint spot of the road is sisterdale. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful winery. Yes it's small and yes it's off the wine tour path, but the drive is lovely and the staff are very warm, very knowledgeable and helpful. I visit as often as I can, and have even taken a picnic along to enjoy with my wine purchase. There is a very small fee for the tasting - worth it.

We have been there a couple times, and enjoy the small... not so commercialized winery visit. They allow you to take a free self tour of their operation and have a write-up that you can read while walking through. They do have a nominal charge to taste their wines, but it is reasonable.Visiting here gives you an appreciation for what they do and their craft.

A friend of mine introduced me to Sister Creek Muscat Canelli wine a couple of years ago and I have loved it ever since. We were traveling down to New Braunfels and decided to take a couple of hours to go visit the winery. The GPS directions took us the long scenic route to get there, but that did not take away from this experience, in fact it made it better. The winery is very small, the self guided tour will take about 5-10 minutes. The tasting was absolutely fabulous. The gentleman was very friendly, knowledgable and a great conversationalist. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Not to mention able to stock up on come great wine.

I was a tag-along w/ a friend who picked up her wines for the quarter. She belongs to the wine club. As a tag-along, they let me taste 4 wines and I purchase 3 of them. I got the chardonnay, pinot, and a muscat reserve. Great exchange with the people that work there and charming place as this was a cotton gin at one time. Difficult to find and signage is poor. So ask people in town, Fredericksburg, if you are unsure. These wines are server at the local restaurants too.

Local winery housed in an old cotton gin building. Reasonably priced wines & tasting. A variety of pleasant wines & friendly staff. Also a great drive through scenic ranch country to & from the winery. Not far from the historic town of Comfort to make it a great day trip.

The staff was freindly but her script on the wines needs a little more enthusiam.( I suspect they recieve a commission off of club memberships)The wines tasted good and my husband enjoyed the muscato quite a bit. The tour was self guided with a flyer to read as you walked. I wasn't very impressed. Sure the cost was low, but I'm all about the atmosphere and experience. I would not recommend to my friends.and I'm a little surprised by the splendid reviews. Then again, everyone enjoys different things.

My wife and I are members of the Sister Creek Wine Club which is part of the Sister Creek Winery in Sisterdale, TX. This is about 15 or 20 miles from Fredericksburg, TX in the Texas Hill Country. We live almost 3 hours away in central Texas and really enjoy our drive every other month through the HIll Country to pick up our wine order! Beautiful country…but... we are here to talk about wine. The winery is located in an old cotton gin and not much has been done to the building since the early 1900's! Quite unique and interesting. It is right on a paved road and there is ample parking next to the road.They have 6 or 8 wines that have won a number of National and International medals. You would not expect so many for such a small winery. Their wines, or some of them, are available in stores in Texas, but for the most part, the way to get their wine is to buy it at the winery (or web site I guess) or become club members. This is what we did and we get wine every other month based on a standing order. They will ship it at a reasonable cost, but we just like the drive for the scenery. We often make it a 2 or 3 day trip and enjoy the area.While we do drink other wines and do have others in our wine cooler, our primary wines are Sister Creek. We especially like their Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Muscat Cananelli. We actually have all their wines in our cooler, so we get the full variety. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We do not know a LOT about wines, and they have been patiently answering our many questions through the past year or so that we have been members. They offer wine tastings of all their products, so that helped us initially decide what we liked the most.We highly recommend their wines and, even if you don't buy, stop by and see the place.
