Pretty quiet during the day. Nice paved area to drive or jog. Has some pavilions, hiking trails, right on river. Has places to park near water. Some areas border a golf course so its not uncommon to get car or windshield damage from a stray ball. May even get konked on head.

Most of Max Starcke Park is a golf course. There are many picnic tables with great views of the Guadalupe River. Some picnic spots have a nice view of Saffold Dam as well. My husband and I put in our canoe near Saffold Dam in Max Starcke Park and paddled 2 miles northwest to the next dam then back. The scenery around the Guadalupe River was beautiful.

This is one lovely place to gather the extended family for a reunion or just hang out with your sweetie as the summer evenings come to a close. Stay near the dam and you have some natural water music to accompany your musing or your courting.The golfer will enjoy the course and those looking for an amble have a lovely walk along the Guadalupe River.

This park is simply beautiful. It is across from the Max Starke golf course, one of the best in Texas. The park it self, is along the Guadalupe Riverand has been well planned out for "all" to use. For the nature lovers,there are paths to walk, through the wooded ares along the river. There are places to bar-b-que,picnic,enjoy family & friends. The park offers places to sit alone & enjoy peace, beauty & comfort of mother nature. For the active, there are tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts,volley ball courts. The park offers many "family" places to have picnics, parties,and just plain family time. There is a kids area, swings & sliding ponds, etc.... the park even also includes a wave pool..... there are many great things about this park, wether you are alone, with family & friends..if you want quiet time or a family reunion...Starke park has it all...

Good golf course to play. Club house cashiers not very friendly. Nice and green for most of the season. Clubhouse can use more variety of equipment for purchases.

Great for windshield tourism. A graceful, curving waterfall spills over a low dam, the highlight of a scenic park drive meandering more than a mile alongside the jade-green waters of the Guadalupe River, beneath towering cypress and pecans. The beautiful man-made waterfall is the legacy of the park's designer, Robert H.H. Hugman, better-known for the River Walk in San Antonio. Hugman was also the architect of the Art Deco Recreation Building, now used for offices. A pioneering landscape architect, he left plantings of his trademark mix of tropical and desert plants, including palms, burro bananas, cactus, and flowering shrubs. Alas, Hugman's plantings were washed away by floods over the years, and not replanted. The City Waterworks, which blocked views of the beautiful waterfall, was *almost* washed away several times. But it was always rebuilt in exactly the same place. So it continues to block the best views.

Towering oaks shade green areas. Great place for a picnic by the river. Nice and big, so you won't be too close to other people.

Very nice park and play area, lots of beautiful pecan trees. The Wave Pool is great fun for families and there is also a kiddie pool.

This is a great park in a small town. The golf course is an a pecan grove setting and is fun to play although for a good golfer this may not be a challenging course for you. The kids can run wild with all the outside nature around, including a river. There are recreational facilities on both sides of the road and just a short distance away are venues for outside viewing primarily in the summer months. This would include festivals held on those grounds.

...in a town that, quite frankly, doesn't have all that much going for it. The park is stretched out along the Guadalupe River, and the little falls going over the dam are one of the sights of Seguin. There is a nice golf course, some really good play areas for the kids (though you might want to check underneath some of the equipment for used condoms or needles...sorry), a large pavilion for large parties, several fishing sites and a big wave pool that is opened in the summer. Picnic areas are scattered along the river. Some parts of the park might be closed, depending on the state of repairs to damages caused by the last flood. It's really a nice park, and has received favorable remarks in several travel publications. No camping, but there are camping areas close by.

There is a lot to do at Max Starke Park; picnic, hike, basketball, catch a baseball game, wave pool, chili cook off's, playgrounds, etc. Its a beautiful spot, and is working on becoming so much more! Be advised that summer months are really hot!

I grew up in Seguin with lots of time spent at Max Starcke Park. Once a month our family would put together a picnic and get to the park early to find our favorite table. The old pecan trees provide a shady canopy for the blankets we spread. The river flows just a few feet away, deep green, alive with fish, turtles, frogs and everything wild. The air is filled with humid smells of the trees, water and our picnic food, usually fried chicken. I visited my hometown this year during the roadtrip and stopped at the park first thing into town. It is still as beautiful and full of life as ever. It is a treasure.
