A small Civil War battlefield. We were enlightened because actual we never heard of this battle. The park allows camping and picnics. There is a bulkhead with rails along the waterfront for fishing and crabbing. The park is well maintained. The battlefield is a self-guided tour. The audio for each exhibit is access through you cellphone.

Nice place to view the water and read about the battleground. Closes at 5 PM, so go early in the day.

this is a well kept park. it is right on the water, also. the boats going by are fun to watch. there is a humongous "boat lift", right by there. it is very interesting, if you never get to see these things. the grounds offer a history of the battles that were waged there. there are nice restrooms there. no charge to enter. people fish along the walkway. you can see the old light house, in the distance. it has a plaque, on the grounds, and show you where to look.

There is not a lot of fancy exhibits here but it is still rather scenic and right on the waterway. It is a battleground site. Sabine Pass is still recovering from Hurricane Ike and the park is down the road from the town about two miles. There is also an old cemetery that is interesting to visit on Hwy 87.

This is a nice park on the Sabine River. We enjoyed watching boats and ships on the river. We saw an alligator in a pond at the entrance. There were three or four small army artilleries. Not much was left of them but they were interesting. The picnic tables had no shade. We spent 30 minutes at the park. Free admission.

I was in Port Arthur, Texas for a week and was looking for some places to go and things to do, when I came across the Sabine Pass Battleground State Historic Site. I'm so glad I found it - it was the highlight of my week. It was a nice park-like setting (in the midst of refinery after refinery......) and the displays were very informative. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has an interest in Civil War or just historic sites. When we were there in early March, the mosquitos were quite thick so take some bug spray, just in case!
